A perfect place to tree-bathe. A lot of trees, and greenery, beautiful flowers in abundance. Also a perfect place to birdwatch. The bike trails look fun but not too intense.
This trail is excellent. It's well maintained, has a nice mix of flat plains type trail and twisty shades woods slight technical. We did all 3 segments running, and ended up with 5.3 miles in 1hr 15min. Highly recommend! There is a porta potty at the head as well as a bike mechanic and picnic tables.
The trails are more suitable for bike riding. Some deep ruts in some areas. There was a good size coyote walking in the trees while I was there so exercise caution.
The trails are fairly well maintained, though it was difficult as a first-timer to tell where one ended and another began. It’s free of litter. The downside is there are long stretches of no shade and direct sun exposure. It’s probably more enjoyable biking than hiking as I did.
We love this trail!! Absolutely beautiful and well maintained, great for hiking and bike riding. Love it! So much fun.
The trail is okay. It is a very small dirt road that can go in multiple directions depending on how far you want to go. The map is a little helpful... If you are a hiker you go to the left and if you are a biker you go to the right. Bikers and hikers will cross eachother in the opposite direction. Hikers will have to move aside for the bikers. The trail is not big enough for both, sadly. The trail is not very shaded so bring sunscreen and lots of water. There are no water fountains on the trail, but there are some benches. Trail is not consistently flat it is tilted a lot of the way. The trail was overall okay, just wish walkers had their own path. I ended up getting thorns to move out of the way for a biker.
Soo much fun! 3 different trails. The easy trail was great for my younger son and I. Loved it.
Amazing place to ride or hike. Easy enough for beginners on ranger and has some tough climbs on the inner loops. Recently, it's been one of the most accessible trails in all of the dfw area just because it's usually the only one to open and the first to open after rain. That being said, there are definitely muddy spots and just because the trail is "open" doesn't mean you're gonna be free from mud. If you want more in depth updates and be the first to know, join the Facebook group as that is pretty much always the first to be updated. Overall, it's pretty much all XC so don't expect any rowdy downhill but it's fun and great for getting outside
This is a great walking area that I did not know was here for a long time. It has a good amount of parking, and trails for bikes and walking. The bike trails have small wooden ramps and jumps that have been professionally created and installed. The terrain has a slight slope. You can do a 2-3 mile walk if you stay to the outer edge. My dogs love it.
I visited several trails around the Dallas metro area and Frisco NW was my least favorite MTB trail. While there are several different loops, all well connected and well marked, the problem with with elevation, or lack thereof. I found the trails to be mostly flat. This itself does not make a trail rate poorly. Unfortunately the ground was very difficult to ride on. Not sure if that is what they call Hero Dirt, but my tires were constantly getting sucked into the dirt/ground. It was a struggle to ride thorough. Every pedal stroke was an effort. Given there is a lot of open field under the sun does not help either. I disliked this trail so much, I’m not sure I can say it’s better than not riding. I did 6 miles on multiple loops but did not want to ride more so called it a day. Oh and a lot of thorns that went through my front tire. Had not had a flat in 10+ years before that. DORBA’s site lists a lot of other trails that are great and I visited multiple times. Frisco NW Community Park Arbor Hills Nature Reserve Erwin Park Waterloo, Denison Northshore Trail, Flower Mound
