Expanding System of Care in Johnson City, TN through a grant provided to Frontier Health by the TDMHSAS.
Frontier Health was given this System of Care Expansion Grant by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to serve families through our partnership with Johnson City Schools and the HEROES program. Through our partnership with Johnson City Schools, Frontier Health’s System of Care Expansion Grant was the first of its kind to provide entirely school-based services to students and families at Mountain View Elementary and, most recently, North Side Elementary. Being in the school allows us to work with families of children with, or at risk of developing, a serious emotional disturbance (SED) in a convenient environment for all involved. We offer family driven services that allow each family an individualized plan to the services they receive. Families have a variety of options to choose from, including intensive coordination services or our after-school family program – The Arts Club. All families involved in our system of care services will be equipped with new skills and knowledge about area resources and services available to them.
Our goal is to use the systems that are already in place in Johnson City and build on those systems to encourage parents and caregivers by providing them with the tools needed to encourage stability and structure to their families while empowering them to make decisions that are in the best interests of their own children.
