Clothing store doesn’t really buy back clothes. Prices for “vintage” clothes is comparable to new clothes of the same style. The store has hip threads but you will not find a bargain here. Be prepared to pay full fare.
This store has great costumes and clothing, but not so great employees. This new generation is something else. The girls here either ignore you till you get to the counter and have to interupt their inappropriate conversation, or will follow you around the store if your skin is a bit to dark for them. So sad, too many places are like this on Magazine. So much work needs to be done on this place, maybe the owner can focus on training their employees right instead of being so driven by money.
I don’t get uptown much, so when I do, I always stop at Funky Monkey, it used to be such a great thrift/vintage store, with always cool, friendly peeps behind the counter. I also occasionally sell - this time around I was surprised at the lowball I was given, so I just got store credit. Expensive clothes for what they are, and the “line” they sell is all over the place, all different styles/designs, poorly made for relatively high priced wear. Beyond all of these points, here is the most crucial IMO: the staff are almost like mannequins. No responses when I said hello or tried to chat about the clothes. No smiles. No style. Just…extant. I worked service for a long time, and I can say, a good personality and expressive interest in the one being helped…it really goes a long way. I left there, said “thanks y’all” to apparently no one, and drove home, sad. It actually made me sad to see a once-wonderful, stylish and cool place to go turn into its present state. Maybe hire some people that want to be there, cuz the girls there now put off a strong vibe that they Do Not. Good luck, and good bye Funky Monkey. I’ll end on the positive and say, it was great while it lasted.
Eclectic, fun finds. Need a costume for a party or a wig for a cosplay? This place is good for a pinch. My friend and I had fun trying on differen, funky shades and he ended up buying a large, John Lennon one and a sleek, red cyberpunk glasses. They also have a good selection of unique jewelry that I was tempted by.
Awesome second hand store with great stuff and an easily navigable layout. Loved the arty decor and the friendly staff. They really busted out the goods for Halloween too, haha
prices have increased drastically. but if it’s in your budget, this thrift store carries a variety of unique pieces: wigs, funky glasses/shades, purses, men & women tops / bottoms, shoes, hats, and jewelry. on street parking. handicap accessible. dressing rooms available.
Cute thrift store. Can be a little pricey. 80s/90s Vintage finds as well as brand new items.
This store is no longer at the standard that it was years ago. I am not sure what their "Product" Line really is...seems they just have a lot of junk and a few pieces of Vintage mixed. And they always say.."you dont have anything we can use right now..." when you are selling items. I agree with previous reviews, go elsewhereBuffalo Exchange....or even sell online to ThredUp.
Great vintage store on Magazine St. Never know what ya gonna find!
Expensive but sometimes thrifty. Lots of looks for the glam and indie sets. Been shopping here for years. Nice staff and funk dressing rooms. You can always find something incredibly cool and vintage here.
