The Aviation Unit provides airborne Law Enforcement services to the Alachua County area.

Description

The Aviation Unit provides air support to area law enforcement, fire, and other emergency agencies. We operates 2 military surplus OH-58 helicopters. JAU is staffed by 2 full time pilots,, and 1 full time mechanic. Back up flight officers and volunteer pilots assist in staffing the Aviation Unit.

Your tax dollars are NOT funding the helicopters! Funding for the helicopters and maintenance comes from contraband seizure...meaning you can thank local drug dealers for the choppers!
