The Gallatin County Wellness Center is a school-based primary healthcare clinic. Location, attached to the county school, offers convenience to students, teachers, parents, and other school workers, decreasing absenteeism and missed work. Also due to location, the Wellness Center increases accessibility to healthcare for those children who have no or limited transportation.
Although the Gallatin County Wellness Center has an obvious focus on School-aged patient health, the provider is trained to deliver primary care to those of all ages. Diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, hyperlipidemia, asthma, COPD, and thyroid disease are examples of some chronic diseases that are diagnosed and managed. With a broad referral network, patients at the Gallatin County Wellness Center are often sent to Evansville, Paducah, Carbondale or St. Louis for illnesses which require management by a specialist.
Acute care is another important function of the Gallatin County Wellness Center. Colds, Sinus infections, Bronchitis, Poison Ivy, Eye infections, Rashes, Urinary Tract Infections, Headaches and many other illnesses drastically interfere with daily life. Quick diagnosis and appropriate treatment allows patients to get back to school or work sooner. The clinic also offers simple excisions of small lesions such as moles and suturing of minor lacerations.
Additional clinic services include lab draws which are sent to Quest labs and vaccinations including flu and pneumonia.
