Bustamante Family History...

Description

The Bustamante family name is of Spanish Origin, with some of its roots deeply embedded into the rich history of Colombia. On April 4th 1793 Vicente Bustamante was born, who later became Cornel Vicente Bustamante, liberator and defender for the independence of not only Colombia but for Venezuela as well. At the age of 17 he began his military career as a soldier and quickly rose to become Colonel because of his many military accomplishments.
After becoming Governor of Buenaventura (city) and taking over civil and military duties of Popayan (city). He led his troops to more than 30 battles until he was commissioned by General Simon Bolivar (liberator of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador) to travel to Venezuela to stop the marches led by Paez on Venezuelan land.

Vincente Bustamante reached many great accomplishments. He marched thru Caracas’s in 1821, and his name is found gloriously throughout the pages of Venezuelan history. Today his monument stands on the famous avenue of the liberators in Caracas. After finishing his campaign in Venezuela Colonel Bustamante returned to his native Colombia in 1831 as commander of the Battalion know as the “Hunters”, of Bogotá (now the capital of Colombia). His military life continued until the republic of Colombia was formed which sadly was the same year of his unexpected death in the city of Caci his home the first week of December. In Caci the Bustamante Family currently holds his actual sword helmet & portrait painted in Oleo.

Drove out to Patchogue to meet the family for brunch. I arrived earlier than the rest of the clan so I sat at the bar for a few. Honestly, this for me was the best part of my experience. The bartender “Angela” was very nice and excitedly recommended food and drinks for me to try. For drinks I chose “Sangria” and for my food order, I had skirt steak and eggs. The plating was eloquent in its simplicity with Avocado and fried potatoes as sides. The portion size was adequate and the meal was tasty. The overall atmosphere is upbeat with the music a tad on the high side. If you are looking to have quiet conversations this may not be for you. The place seemed to fill up fast in the later hours so consider that when dining here.
Food quality wasn't terrible but it wasn't the best. They had bottomless sangria and mimosas on their lunch menu which was good. Feedback from friends who go often is that their food is a hit or miss and it really depends on the day you go.
Before I get to the food I just have to give them a shout out for having the best arroz con leche ever. It was SO good. Ok, now to the food… food was good. Nothing more than that traditional food you’d get at any Columbia restaurant. The churrasco was perfect, I would get that. The server was so kind. We got there an hour before they closed and they still accommodated us, took the time to sing happy birthday and were super attentive to us. It’s location is perfect on Main Street and they had good music!
Came to visit this place based on Google reviews. It is good but not nearly a 4.5 as Google has it rated. The shrimp ceviche was good and my bandeja was good. Their shrimp and steak dinner, the shrimp had zero and I mean zero seasoning. If you live nearby it may be a nice place.to frequent once you figure out what they prepare the best otherwise not worth the drive to.
Steak was good. Mini empanadas were a waste. We had a group of 11 and called ahead of time. They said they wouldn't take reservations, but when we got there they were holding a table for someone who made advance seating arrangements for a group of 12. I call that reservations. I guess they choose for whom they want to hold a table.
This is an amazing place! Delicious Columbian food and great service! We enjoyed our experience and will be back!
The food was excellent and the staff was super nice. I would definitely be going again!
Great food and drinks, try their Henny Colada or if you are up for a spicy drink, their Jalapeño Margarita and their Flaming Spicy specialty cocktail is bomb!
The food was DELICIOUS which is why Im giving it 3 stars. Upon walking in I asked if I could sit outside, I was told NO. I asked why not? The hostess stated it was all full. I then advised her a couple just left, she said well you will have to wait, I said that is fine. After being seated the waitress took our drink orders & then didnt return. The MANAGER then came & got our drinks. Our food order took about 45min to come out, which I wouldnt have minded if the waitress checked on us again. We had to ask for napkins & then received two. I asked the manager to come back, SHE NEVER DID. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING.
Go here. The food is excellent, service to match. Like most establishments, the background music does not suite the experience and typically too loud. If possible, go for early dinner or other "non-peak" periods before the madness - and noise - of crowds takes over the dining areas.
