This place has been here for a while. Nice sculptures,but through the years, they have been vandalized. Fingers and feet are missing from the Apostles and Baby Jesus. Probably taken for keepsakes. The Hawks that are nesting at the entrance are also pretty cool.
This garden has a beautiful story. The sculptor was badly wounded in World War I and promised God that if he survived, he would devote the rest of his life to creating religious statues. He made such statues in many cities. The Garden of Gethsemane in Tucson is a small, pretty park, and the statues are lovely. There is a children's playground next to it.
This delightful little sculpture garden is situated in a fairly peaceful section of the riverbank. With well maintained paths and a wheelchair accessible entrance and ramps. The information sign about the sculptor is very informative and altogether the garden has a wonderful atmosphere. Parking is good and plentiful and the sculptures themselves are beautiful and have a great history. They are more than worth seeing. Expect to spend about 10-15 minutes here on average.
Though it’s unavoidable and normal with spots like this you run into homeless people setting up shop. Otherwise this is a nice peaceful serene place to come and reflect and gather your thoughts and look at the very cool sculptures as well.
Beautiful!!! I love the meaning. We have to be careful we dont worship statues but the One True Living God of the Bible only. Jesus taught us how to pray like this "OUR FATHER" We have to make sure we're praying to God the Father ONLY. Salvation is no joke. Its a serious matter. The most important decision you'll ever make in your life is where your soul will go for eturnity. Read and study and do what the bible says for yourself. We are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembeling. Philipians 2:12. God bless you. Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven. There's no other way.
Roadside Americana kitsch with meaning. If you don’t know it’s there you might miss it but it’s worth a stop. Only downside is the proximity to the noise of the freeway detracts from the peaceful vibes.
Sadly the vandals have done some damage to the last supper but it is still worth a visit.
Great place to just have some quiet time and pray. Really enjoyed.
It was a small place with only 4-5 exhibits/statues. The only other person there with me was a homeless man half asleep. It was nice to see, though the statues remain damaged e.g. at the Last Supper table there are fingers are broken off of Jesus and the disciples. I wouldn't make a special trip out just to see this, but rather stop by when you're in the area.
Smaller than I expected. But a very intimate feel to it. I almost cried when I saw that fingers of the statues last supper were broken or missing. Also I probably missed this but who maintains this ?
