Was in Augusta on Saturday and saw that the Gary's Hamburgers was quite busy. We've never been but my husband is always on the hunt for the best hamburger and when a place has "hamburgers" in their name that should be what they do the best so we decided to try it out. Pros: The place was clean and the staff was super friendly. You could tell it was a locals place where they probably have a lot of repeat customers who get their go-to items. A lot of the reviews were not for the burgers and the outside signs referenced breakfast and biscuits, etc. The folks inside eating seemed to know what they wanted and were enjoying what they had. Cons: The hamburger combo was about $9.50. It was fine but similar to what you would get at a school cafeteria, e.g. frozen burger patties. There was nothing special about the burgers, fries or onion rings that would put Gary's on my list of go-to places for a burger fix.
This was my 1st time at Gary's. I enjoyed my hamburger and fries. Not spectacular but good. Nice little restaurant.
Got there early, they were still doing breakfast, so what was prepared was fresh. Had heard of Gary's for years, but this is the first time trying. Customer service was great, had cheese burger platter with fries. As mentioned, all was fresh and a lot of fries came with it. Brought to my table, burger was okay, fries were okay, but not worth $13 and some change. Now days it's tough to find real good food at a real good price.
Gary's is one of the best non chain fast food place's I've been. There burgers and fries are always a go to and even with stiff competition from other local chicken fast food Gary's still is a top contender for there tenders. If you like honey mustard then Gary's is a must go as it is hand's down the best I have ever had. My one tip is carry out and dine is almost ALWAYS faster then there drive through.
You got to be a local to love it. I see all these bad reviews about their food but if you are a local then you know they are a well established eatery in the area and sometimes you have to wait longer than you would at a fast food chain. The fries could use a little refresher but the rest of the food is top notch...for what Gary's 'model' is representing. This AIN'T no 5 star burger restaurant- but they are DEFINITELY a 5 star burger joint.
Always has been a great local business. And, a magnificent burger. This last time I went, it seemed even better. Not to mention, with prices on everything being so high! You can actually walk out of there with a fabulous burger in your stomach and not have to pay for it with your limbs lol!Food: 5/5
I know that this may be a Hometown all-time favorite for some. I order the 1/2 very generic hamburger!! I also ordered the Philly with everything on it, the veggies were not well chopped and there was not a taste of salt and pepper in site!! The pros were the customer service and family-like atmosphere. It's a no return for me.
We frequent here a lot. We love their breakfast items like their home made biscuits are to die for and their bacon is perfect. thick and crispy. We love love love their bacon cheese burgers as well. Kid-friendliness: Both my kids love their food.
I paid 17 dollars for a double cheese burger, onion rings and a drink. It's my fault I didn't pay attention to the menu where it said for $4.00 more make it a combo. A dollar extra for onion rings. It wasn't worth it. The owner is making a Killin. I won't be back it's just not worth it.
Two times order was wrong. Long waits. Normally food is great but price is high. Until you improve staffing, accuracy, and dont overcook food. I am done. Owner is very nice. Parking: Busy
