One of the best attractions on route 66. George is such a lovely man, he offers you other nice attractions as a suggestion. His little 66 museum is very beautiful, you can find many, many nice objects and cars. Here you can also find a small shop with many souvenirs. We felt the real old route 66 feeling by visiting his place.
Another beautifully restored service station on Route 66. This one stands out in the fact that the entire property is part of the experience. If you stop, most definitely check out the shop/garage to the right of the gas station. It's a museum of its own.
Of all of the Route 66 fuel stations we visited in KS and MO on 21-22 August 2023, this station in Ash Grove, MO is by far the most complete, comprehensive, and expansive. Originally named the "Gay Parita," this Sinclair Station has four buildings filled with nostalgia, cars, and even an outdoor covered cafe/bar with multiple menu items as well as a nice little Gift Shop. The owners are very friendly and even apologised when we arrived during the food restocking. There is a massive Route 66 painted emblem on the road in front of the location. Unlike other locations that we visited on Route 66, you could easily spend over an hour walking around this location and looking at everything.
Back in the early 2003 time frame we could still stop at the old log cabin gas station location; County hwy. 266 and hwy. 96. Only the paved entrance still exits now. About one mile east from Gay Parita Mo. and the Sinclair station. Good memories.
A great Route 66 stop, lovely to meet George and to gain a bit of knowledge into the history of the place. Don't forget to pick up a few ducks!
ABSOLUTELY A MUST-STOP! We decided to venture, just a little, off HWY 44 & we were so glad we did. There’s so much to see here as it’s filled with tons of Route 66 & other memorabilia. George, the guide and caretaker of this iconic landmark, is one of the most friendly, welcoming people you will ever meet. Go enjoy this hidden treasure! You won’t be sorry!
George and Barbara Are the nicest people in the world we spend about an hour and a 1/2 talking with them superknowledgeable people on the area and Barbara is the daughter of the original owner.
Barb and George are fantastic ambassadors for Route 66. This last trip was our third time visiting and it’s always a neat experience!
Awesome stop! A local told us about this place, and we are so glad we went. The onsite memorabilia was fun. The shop had a good Route 66 souvenirs. Gary was interesting to and a great story teller.
A must see in Route 66, George is a great guy and sells unique souvenirs for a good price.
