I was referred to Dr. Roxene S. Gascoigne by my dentist when she determined that I need a root canal. I could no longer stand the pain in my back molar due to its extreme temperature sensitivity, but I was apprehensive about getting my first root canal. My dentist must have sensed my concern about the procedure, so she assured me "Don't worry, Dr. Gascoigne is the best! She'll take good care of you." I made an appointment and appreciated the subsequent reminders about it by phone. A great convenience was getting a link to a web site that allowed me to fill in a bunch of forms before my actual visit. A root canal has a reputation of being a very painful procedure, so to quite be honest I was a bit scared. However, Dr. Gascoigne with her mellifluous voice explained the procedure to me in layman's terms and quickly put my mind at ease. Her assistant explained that I would have to wear sunglasses and headphones during the procedure. The sunglasses were for protection against the bright lights. "Why the headphones?" I asked, "So that I don't hear myself scream?" I asked Dr. Gascoigne point blank "Is this going to hurt like hell?" She smiled and assured me that I would feel no pain, and that the headphones were for music to put me in a relaxed mood. Hearing those words was like taking a heavy dose of Valium. After getting comfortably numb with a local anesthetic Dr. Gascoigne went to work, and when the drill hit my tooth ... NO PAIN! What a relief that was. The whole procedure went smoothly, and the drilling sounds were muted by the relaxing music of Miles Davis. My root canal didn't hurt at all. My initial fears were totally unfounded. I thought I would be writhing in pain like Dustin Hoffman in the film "Marathon Man" when Laurence Olivier repeatedly asks him "Is it safe?" Silly me. In summary, if you need a root canal, I highly recommend Dr. Gascoigne!
This was the first time I was in the office upon referral from my dentist because I had a complicated root canal to be performed. All I can say is that it was an excellent experience all the way from the from desk to the Dental hygienists that assisted Dr. Roxane Gascoigne. Dr Gascione was extremely patient and thorough in explaining the procedure to me and was VERY concerned with my comfort level during the whole procedure! I highly, highly recommend her to ANYONE who has to have a root canal done to see Dr Gascionge, especially since root canals to me are pretty scary!
This was my first visit to Dr Gascoigne’s office. My mistake I arrived 1 1/2 hrs early. She was very understanding and took me in earlier than my appointment time. The office is extremely clean and the office staff is very friendly. Not the least, Dr Gascoigne did a difficult procedure in one visit for which I am very thankful. I definitely recommend her as an excellent Endocrinologist.
I approached my first root canal with a bit of trepidation but The East Hills staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable…I experienced no pain either during or after my two visit procedure. I highly recommend East Hills.
