I first want to start off by responding to everyone talking about the upkeep of the grounds. I also do upkeep on a cemetery in another State and I know people want everything to look nice when they go but since my grandparents been buried there this place has been overwhelmed with new burials. Please remember it's very time consuming to cut and trim around all those stones. Not to mention it takes a toll on your body. They are doing the best they can to keep it looking beautiful. Also remember while your home in a nice cool house. These guys are busting butt to keep you happy. So next time you see these guys working. THANK THEM and don't complain
I am not sure what the complaints are about. When I go the workers respect your privacy and are not intrusive ever. Cemeteries are subject to unpredictable weather conditions. It is one of the better kept cemeteries imo along with St. Mary’s in Pawtucket
I have both my parents buried at the cemetery, for valentines i put a little bouquet of flowers, to my surprise when I went back they were gone. Spoke with the manager and i was told you can’t have anything on a flat stone. So is it ok for dozens of stones to have but mine cant?does anyone have answers please tell me why. Just for a piece of mind
I absolutely love this cemetery but there is a issue with things being stolen, someone stole from my 6 year old daughters grave. I make my little girl beautiful wreaths and vase arrangements for every holiday and every season and make sure they are secured to her stone and yet some lowlife, heartless person keeps taking them. I also bought her a beautiful led candle ran by solar and today I went there and that was stolen. This makes me sick. As I was leaving tonight I stopped and spoke to security and he stated to me “ you aren’t the first, I’ve got a lot of complaints from other families that things are being taking” this is extremely heartbreaking to families and I only hope they up the security or add cameras
I buried my son last year in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. What was once a beautiful place is now a depressing and neglected resting place. Section 12 is particularly unkempt. I just moved back to RI. My heart ached that both my mother and beloved son are buried here. The Catholic Diocese must do better. UPDATE: I returned for a visit less than a week later. A heartfelt thank you for hearing my concerns. Not only my son's grave, but also the surrounding section, had been attended to. Thank you for making my heart a bit lighter today!
Was here on Mothers Day. I was not very happy with the way the cemetery looked. Grass was cut, however it was so long around of the bases of most of the stones, that you couldn't even see the base. Very disappointed in the upkeep. I know its a large cemetery, but knowing Mothers Day was coming this place should of been immaculate!
I was there on 8/28 and found the grounds in very poor condition. I fully understand that the drought has impacted the grass. However, all the dirt covering the flat stones is deplorable. Not only can’t you read them but some are completely covered in dirt making it impossible to even find some. They just blend it with the dirt surrounding the stone. Very disappointed.
The cemetery itself it nice, but every time I call to ask a question or get any information, I always happen to speak to a very unpleasant individual named “Matt”. Every time I speak to him he talks over me, interrupts me, and replies to my question with snarky remarks. For my grandmothers funeral, myself and the rest of my family were told that we would be able to watch my grandmother be placed in her grave with my grandfather. At the conclusion of her service, the same individual told us that “[we would] have to wait”. After reminding him about what we had spoken about on the phone, he stated “well, I don’t know what to tell you because I have another service to do first, sorry”. It’s just a bit ironic that a cemetery staff member would treat close family members in this rather cold way so soon after the death of not one, but three family members. I also feel like the maintenance crew could do a better job. Come June/July everything looks dead and dry.
Come visit while I sleep, as this sleep is eternal. Better yet don't. ;- Great place for WARM & I to take a walk, smoke some medical & talk to my Bud's. Of courses stop too visit the relatives...WARM Is my service puppy...
A man that works there was very rude to my family and gave us all an attitude while we were sitting there grieving. I still don't believe the way he acted towards us.
