Gatesville Volunteer Fire Dept provides fire and rescue services for the citizens of Gatesville, Coryell County and also assists neighboring counties.
The GFD has 7 firefighting apparatus, 2 water tenders, a rescue unit, dozer with truck and trailer, and several command/support units. We also have a Fire Prevention Trailer that travels to the local schools for fire prevention education. Our primary response area consists of approximately 255 square miles, plus secondary response for our neighboring County Fire Departments.
The mission of the Gatesville Volunteer Fire Department is the preservation of life and property from fire, other emergencies and disasters through proactive fire prevention and education, emergency preparedness and emergency incident response to our citizens, and the safety of our firefighters through the most up to date training, protective equipment, and firefighting equipment.
Quality, dependable, fire protection, public education, vehicle extrication, low and high angle rescue, and any other special situation that the public may call for our assistance.
