Our team was founded to service the needs of students in Bexley interested in STEM principles and best practices through the FIRST Robotics Competition
The FIRST Robotics Competition hosts approximately 3000 schools worldwide; in the competitions, teams build and program robots from scratch to perform specific tasks against a field of competitors. Professional mentors volunteer their time and talents to guide each team to as close to “real world” engineering as a student can experience.
The Bexley High School team has participated in two previous competitions; in our first venture we advanced to the World Competition, winning the “Rookie All-Star” award, one of five total awards given by FIRST—a huge achievement for our student body and our STEM programs. Our team has fifty members this year, and is expected to grow every year due to the implementation of junior robotics programs like the FIRST LEGO League throughout the school district, for which our team members provide volunteer mentorship.
Our team was founded in 2012 to service the needs of Bexley students interested in STEM principles and best practices, providing us with an opportunity to participate in an integrated hands-on learning environment that promotes leadership, teamwork, business skills, and engineering literacy (software, hardware, electronic, and electrical) necessary to be competitive in the workforces of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
