La Maestra Foundation's mission is to provide and support advocacy and community services that improve the overall well-being of low-income, culturally diverse individuals and families in San Diego and guide them along the path to self-sufficiency.
Company Overview:
La Maestra Foundation’s Generations Center opened in 2012 in the culturally diverse inner-city community of City Heights. Youth, older adults, women and other residents are offered a growing range of programs designed to empower them with tools to achieve overall wellbeing and greater opportunities in health, lifestyle, education and career. Programs are free or very low-cost, thanks to the generous support of our funders, partners and volunteers.
La Maestra Foundation (LMF), the sister organization to La Maestra Community Health Centers (LMCHC), is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that aims to address the unique needs among diverse emerging communities in San Diego. LMF was created to address the non-medical needs of individuals and families from low-income households, because complete wellness requires more than just a trip to the doctor. The La Maestra Circle of Care™ is a network of integrated services provided by LMCHC, LMF and many partners, that links primary and specialty health care with behavioral health, translation services in more than 30 languages, transportation, housing assistance, supportive temporary housing and counseling for those in recovery, legal advocacy services, a food pantry and community garden, economic empowerment initiatives, and various community programs for all ages.
