Every single one of the ladies I have spoken with this far have been phenomenal! I am uber excited to work with this organization to find a new home!
These people are working with the people of Flint, throughout the Pandemic and they are true to their word about not taking your home. If you communicate and keep in touch, they will take care to try to wait until you can get your funds together, as long as you communicate.
Has only one person that can print off certifications for the class yet they aren’t available until the day after bidding. Make that make sense
After several weeks, I was able to get through to the receptionist. She was not able to help me or give me any information, but states that by keeping the Land Bank closed to the public is keeping the people that work there safe. I inquired as to when they will not be in "Covid" mode and she said if it takes to 2027, then it takes wil 2027. Personal opinion is that they are not keeping people safe, but keeping a "lean" employment roster and no one really has to deal with the public unless they make an appointment, but when no one can get an answer via the phone because no one is answering or if you leave a message and can't get someone to respond to that call, they don't have to do any work. Personally, I would like to see more people working there so as a community, we can get more work done instead of leaving the residents, such as myself, living in "ghetto" conditions with homes all around me burnt out, having squatters and such. Some of the homes they have on their demo list do have "fire funds" attached to them, but no one wants to do their due diligence to demo those first. We need residents to help them and give exact addresses so that we can work together as a community to get Flint back on track.
Very disappointed in the land bank we went to a house showing and were there for a good 20 minutes doing a walkthrough the gentleman who was in a white truck told us to write our name and phone number down when we signed in. I put together all of the documents needed drop them off a few days later. After 3 weeks of not hearing anything I called to find out exactly what was going on I had to leave a message and Wendy did call me back to let me know that she could not find my sign in sheet and asked if I attended the open house I told her I did and explain to her that the gentleman told me to just put my phone number and my name down and she told me that that wasn't right and that I had needed to put my address down as well I told her that there was a gentleman also there from the Flint City department taking photos of the home and explained to her that we did a 20 minute walk through so we definitely went she said that she would let them know and they were getting the bids together that day. later in the week I tried to call to find out if a decision was made and the woman at the desk told me that it can take up to 3 weeks if I haven't heard anything I should expect an email stating that they had chosen somebody else I told her that I did not hear anything so she forwarded me over to Wendy I left a message with no return phone call again. I had my fiance call a few days later and left a message asking if they had found my sign in sheet or made a decision on the house they still did not return my call it is now been over 4 weeks I have not received a call or an email stating if they had made a decision on the house and nobody will return my phone calls so be aware that they will lose your sign in sheet the gentleman who does show the houses is very rude and Wendy will not return your phone call so you can even know what is going on
I'm frustrated with the land bank, and this is the second time I have inquired about a house. I've called Wendy several times and haven't received a callback. I called a different dept, and someone called back within two days. No one could tell me how much the house was so I could bid on it. I sent an interest form, and then the home went on the housing market. How does that happen?? I'm just really convinced that the land bank only wants to sell to investors and not to the people of this community.
I just bidded on the first house which I love and got the bid I had to wait almost 3 weeks and my bid was accepted. Wendy responded fast to my emails now I'm waiting to go get the keys.
This has to be the worst “rebuilding a city” program ever. Front desk rude, the decent houses are impossible to get, prices are high for houses that should be on the demolition list. My friend was renting a house from someone who lost the property due to none payment of taxes. LandBank got the house put a piece of paper on the door and told her to move in 3 days. Then went in the next day and sat everything on curb which ppl went threw and took towed her vehicles out the driveway and boarded it up smh
Totally agree with others reviews. The ladies at the front desk don't deserve their job they have a very bad customer service. I think the have a monopoly there and a regular person won't be able to get a good house in flint or they don't want the city to prosper.
This program and its director never returned a phone call to me. I repeatedly tried to get an appointment with the land bank authorities in the purchase of property adjacent to mine and was never given the opportunity to purchase the property. Burton stated that the land back had it and the land bank stated that Burton had it. One hand never knows what the other hand is doing.?????
