Georgetown Hospital Foundation

About

Living. Giving. Caring.

We work with the community to put life-saving equipment into the hands of the staff and physicians at Georgetown Hospital.

Mission

The Foundation is the Hospital’s fundraising arm. It is a registered charitable organization governed by a volunteer board of directors who live in this community and are dedicated to enabling the best healthcare for the people of Halton Hills.

The Foundation’s mission is to raise funds to enhance the healthcare services provided by the Georgetown Hospital for the people of Halton Hills. We solicit, administer, invest and protect donations given for improvements to hospital services and facilities.

The Foundation’s role is crucial because:

The Ministry of Health does not provide all the funds necessary to purchase new or replacement equipment that the Hospital requires to keep pace with the progress of medical technology;
The Ministry of Health will only fund up to 50% of a Ministry approved Hospital construction project; and,
The Hospital must rely on community support for the amounts not funded by the Ministry for medical equipment and approved construction projects.
This funding arrangement has been in place since the hospital first opened in 1961. The result is that each year the Hospital turns to the Foundation to fund the purchase of key medical equipment, renovations and services that otherwise would not be funded.

Good healthcare means patient care provided by skilled, compassionate health care professionals using the right tools and equipment. Your support of the Foundation helps ensure the best healthcare for the people of Halton Hills.

Came in for my 5 year old who had a high fever that wouldn’t go away. Staff was nice. But waited almost 5 hours to be put in what looked like a filthy storage room!!! There was dust EVERYWHERE, a bin FULL of soiled linens and what looked like blood on the floor. NOT suitable or sanitary for a sick toddler!
Great experience, the Team is working incredibly hard to understand the issue and working under pretty challenging experiences. Please be kind as this is hands down the best staff I have seen at any hospital and they truly care. My Dad has been incredibly blessed to be under such amazing care and at times he can be a bit challenging but they handle it with grace and composure and likely I would not myself handle most things in such a way. Please be kind to these staff they are doing their best and are humans
Experienced day surgery yesterday at Georgetown Hospital and was so very impressed and thankful for the kindness and care I was shown from the greeting I received when I walked in the building to the prep team, Dr. Lu and his surgical team and recovery room team. Heart warming care from start to finish. I was very concerned going in with all the horror stories I had read of the overworked and exhausted staff at hospitals but these folks have let their integrity shine through and my only concern now is how to thank them beyond mere words. 5 gold stars are not enough. Thank you.
Good: the nurse and doctor were good and very fast. I took lest then 30 mins to complete check up and diagnosis. Bad: Triage: they are not explaining things or next steps. Could be better if they can tell next steps. This leaves patients confused. Reception /patient intake: rude lady and biased. People are sick when they come there and this attitude makes people really. Very bad area which needs overhaul. Wait time: this is really bad. They could have better management of time and space. When we went in after 5 hrs we saw almost most of the rooms empty, maybe additional rooms or additional resource would help to shorten this time. Racism: didn’t find anything of such sort.great job on that.
My Mom was seriously ill and we waited for 9 hours in queue and no one assisted, no any medication or assistance provided. We called the nurse 2 times but answer was”we r bzy”. Nursing staff who assists in patient rooms were very good and caring and these 2 stars for them only. Doctor Joshua was a nice guy at beginning but became very rude when we refused to go for surgery which he was advising us to go for. No customers service at all.
I understand the deep challenges our health system is currently facing in Ontario and Canada. My recent experience however, at Georgetown Hospital was uniformly positive. I went in for a routine operation in February 2023 and first experienced the pre-op info session with a nurse named Christina. She has exactly the type of calm, caring personality necessary to ease patient concerns. Then on the morning of my operation I enjoyed the company of Cathy Kathy? who relieved my apprehension with a smile under her mask! and humour. She declined to hold my hand through the procedure, but, I reasoned, no harm in asking. Bo, the anesthesiologist, was great and my post-care was cheerfully handled by Lauri who plied me with glass after glass of apple juice. Of course, the surgeon, Dr. Dalvi merits my enduring appreciation as well. I’m grateful for his efficiency and expertise. The nurses and doctors who treated me continue to deliver superb patient care. I’m in their debt and offer them an abundance of thanks!
I had to rush to ER yesterday. I had couple of choices and then I thought I would try Georgetown hospitals. It worked out pretty well in my case. Staff was pretty good, Right from reception, nurses to doctors i had a good experience with minimal and decent waiting time. My case was handled by Dr. Mehta and he was well experienced and was able to resolve my health issue. Overall I would definitely recommend this hospital to others.
Was in waiting for 5 hours without medication and in excruciating pain, wasn’t even given a Tylenol, nurse was rude cuz most likely I was brown and maybe the only brown patient, avoid going there, super racist staff. I was very clear about what my issue was and she still wrote down I have back pain which I never even said. Someone needs to take action against them, I witnessed the nurse playing video game on her phone while the patents were waiting without medication. I love how the owner is responding to good reviews and none of the bad ones, maybe the staff posting good reviews themselves.. Shame on you Georgetown hospital, we pay taxes so you can get paid salaries to take care of us, not just play video games on your phones and ignore patients.
Since January 9, my son has been very ill and in a lot of pain to the point where he cannot talk. So, on January 10, we made the decision to visit the hospital, where we spent hours in the registration queue as he threw up even more, still not able to really speak. We were informed during the lengthy waiting times that there was nothing wrong with him and that no medication or help was needed,so we went home. He got worse the following day, and when we returned the nurse was incredibly hostile for no reason and made us wait even longer. This was at 2am and the ER was not busy. At that point, my son began throwing up blood. When I tried to answer some questions on behalf of him, the nurse stopped me from speaking and tried to shut me up. The nurse's response when I tried to help my son respond to some questions when he couldn't speak was, "Was I talking to you, I didn't think so... so be quiet!".The nursing staff provides absolutely no customer service and made a very stressful situation even more stressful. I would never, ever suggest anyone visit this hospital. Your time will be wasted, and you'll either receive pointless information and assistance or simply be treated like you mean nothing to them. My son's illness was stressful enough, but the nurse's hostile interaction with me and her yelling at me further added to my anxiety and frustration. I'm not sure what motivated her unacceptable behaviour, but these are the types of employees who represent our healthcare system. We ended up leaving the hospital and going to Brampton Civic where we were treasured much better and taken care of.
Amazing staff, experienced professionals and the best of all possible facilities. We were blessed with a baby girl at The Georgetown Maternity ward recently… this is our second child and our experience dealing with the Doctors and the nurses has been just exceptional. Not for a moment did it feel like, we are getting Free healthcare inside Canada.
