Georgia Museum of Agriculture, 1392 Whiddon Mill Road, Tifton, GA 31793, 229-391-5205
Explore the farm. Listen to the barnyard sounds. See bacon and ham curing in the smokehouse and preserved vegetables in the canning shed. Experience everyday 19th century-style farm-like activities, from planting and harvesting to cooking, spinning, quilt making, and more. All structures have authentic furnishings of the period.
Friendly staff members share the history as they perform daily activities - whether in farmhouses, fields, sawmill, turpentine still, school house, blacksmith's shop, or the grist mill. Stroll up Main Street to the Feed and Seed store, the print shop and drug store.
Georgia's Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village opened as the Agrirama on July 4th, 1976. Over 35 structures have been relocated to the 95 acre site and faithfully restored and preserved. Costumed interpreters explain and demonstrate the life-style and activities of this time in Georgia's history. The Georgia Museum of Agriculture Vulcan Iron Works Steam Locomotive is the only steam powered train in regular operation in the State of Georgia.
