As fans of roadside attractions, the McGinn family, who built the World's Largest Pistachio at their PistachioLand created the Giant Alamogordo Landmark at their Highway 82 store to draw recognition to the Alamogordo area and its many attractions and industries, most notably agritourism. Alamogordo, which is part of the Tularosa Basin and Otero County in New Mexico, is known for pistachio and pecan farms, space history, the natural wonder of White Sands National Monument, Holloman Air Force Base and beautiful desert scenery.
