The Gilbert Library offers access to information, education, recreation and communication services and materials.
The Gilbert Library is open to everyone, so we encourage everyone to come and check out our great facilities/books, audio books, magazines, and DVDs. You can also enjoy additional programming at Bertha Bartlett Public Library in Story City. Our hours for the summer will be as follows: Tues., 3:30 –7:30; Thurs., 3:30 – 7:30; and Sat. 10:00 – Noon. We have a book drop located on the north side of the Gilbert Library, just around the corner by the front entrance. Stop by and see us and remember no matter how old you are it is always a good time to read!
All communities are required to provide library services. Setting up a library is a long term commitment, so many contract with another community to provide library services to their residents. Effective July 1, 2011 the City of Gilbert, Iowa has joined services with Story City’s Bertha Bartlett Public Library. Gilbert residents will have free public access to internet and an in town library for the first time in recorded memory.
The library operation in Gilbert has had good support from the community of Gilbert and surrounding areas! We continue to add books, and materials, and remind everyone that the “New Materials” table rotates items every month. But just because you don’t see it in the Gilbert library, doesn’t mean we don’t own it, so please be sure to make requests either by phone, online through our website at www.storycity.lib.ia.us, by email at [email protected], or by coming into the library location when we are open.
