Well worth a visit while in the area. The castle looked like ruins from a distance but once you go inside you will see the world class workmanship. The details and woodwork were stunning.
Nice quiet state park with Greta views of the CT river. You can hike down to the river. They have nice grills and picnic tables by the water. There is a hidden beach area that looks very clean. The castle looks very unique and is a main attraction in Connecticut. Must visit
Really worth the visit. You can take many nice pictures from all angles of the castle, including the view of the river. The added bonus is the really shady trail. Parking free is near the castle too. There's a $6 tour of the castle if you are interested. We were hoping the ice cream shop would be open but it was not. Overall it was a really good experience for our family.
Great park to visit for all ages. Picnic areas and trails are great. Parking is great. Tour was wonderful and I was glad to have booked ahead as it was sold out by the time we arrived. The guides provided great information and answered all our questions. Would highly recommend for singles, couples or families.
This place is awesome. It’s tucked away in the Forested area of Connecticut. The grounds are filled with beautiful tall trees as well as the historic view of the castle. The gift shop offer great souvenirs and the town has colonial charm all over it.I recommend this place to any one local and foreigners to visit. You won’t regret it. Picnic area: The picnic area is near the pond that has a romantic feel to it!
The grounds are beautiful & the tour was very interesting- definitely worth the $ & time. We spent about an hour there. There are 3 levels of stairs, but you can go at your own pace, one floor at a time. My mom has back issues and did just fine.
Dont let the fact that it is in the middle of nowhere scare you away. This place is gorgeous! We didn't do the indoor tour as it was booked out a couple hours, but the outside was great to see. Great view of the water. Some walking trails around it, not sure how long they are. Free parking. Bathrooms and gift shop.
What a wonderful home and quite amazing man!! He lead an amazing life!! The art and thought that went into the castle is extraordinary. Our family of 10 all loved this tour and grounds! Restrooms: Very.... interesting... restrooms... I lived though so that's a plus...
The grounds are beautiful. The castle is closed for tours. This place allows dogs, they have to be on a chain. They have grills and picnic tables. You can see the River and they have a pond. Breathtaking I love to see the views. Restrooms: Restrooms are in the visitor center. There is also a train museum in the same section. Dog-friendliness: Dogs just need to be on a leash. Picnic area: They have grills and picnic tables
