The cake was great. Well decorated. My only complaint was I got a two tier cake and there were no rods so it slid upon transport. If there were supporting rods I would of giving it 5 stars
My daughter and I stopped in while visiting family from out of state. Not only was the lady helping us so incredibly kind and patient my daughter couldn’t decide on which donuts she wanted but the food was delicious! We tried a variety of donuts which were all soft, fresh, and yummy. Also, we got cream horns for my husband because they are his favorites. We both agree that the cream horns are the best we have ever had they were huge, crunchy, flakey, and melted in your mouth! We stopped by a second time before we left town. I would definitely recommend trying this bakery and we will be back when we visit again!
The last 2 times we have gone since the change in ownership, I have been disappointed. My son & I occasionally go for a breakfast just the 2 of us & he loves to eat inside. They were completely out of milk so he was upset we couldn’t stay. Today when we went, there was no half & half for the coffee. The applesauce donut was greasy & tasted like a plain donut. Some of the other cake donuts were also greasy. I didn’t realize it at the time, but the ones that didn’t taste as good were not shaped like normal. The yeast donuts still tasted really good. I know some of these things may sound picky, but these small details are important to customers.
Loved this place, lots to eat and a lot to explore.
Second time I have called to order iced cookies for a special occasion and not only have been told no, but have had rude service. I was specifically told the first time that it was busy season and I needed to call in next time at least 3-4 days ahead of time so the icing can set. This time I called on a Monday to pick up 12 cookies on Thursday and was told no....rudely. This bakery has something special, but it certainly is not in the service! We won't be back!
I am not a great doughnut connoisseur but I love this place! Everything always seems fresh, and recently made. The staff is crazy friendly, and the environment is great as well. My favorite doughnut/ sweet shop in town.
AMAZING donuts!! Oh my gosh I had to Instagram a picture of the box of a dozen donuts we got from Gingerbread House Bakery- they were that enticing! Not to mention incredibly fresh and delicious. THE reason to visit Kokomo, or stop in next time you're in town- you won't regret it!
This is such a cute place! I hardly ever come to Kokomo and am not very familiar with many places around here, but had some time to kill due to a canceled appointment. I originally planned to go to Dan's Donuts to get my kids some donuts, but they put a 'SOLD OUT' sign up as I was walking up. Determined to get my kids donuts from some place rather than the gas station, I found Gingerbread House Bakery while searching maps for 'donuts nearby' & the name intrigued me. It wasn't too hard to find. Parking kind of sucked, and the few others driving by didn't seem to know how to drive/park. I had to walk about a block to get there; the surrounding stores weren't open at the time or were just opening, as I am sure that during busier times that you'd probably have to park kind of far away. It's in downtown Kokomo, which can be kind of scary at times but I felt fairly safe during my visit. The store itself is absolutely adorable; gingerbread houses everywhere real and fake, candy packaged to be used as decor pieces, and other baked goods. I saw popcorn, breads loaves and croissants, cookies, cakes, cake pops, donuts, and a variety of different candies. Everything seemed homemade. It also seemed very clean! Overall, this plan was fantastic. It reminded me of an old time candy shop. The cashier was nice & polite - didn't rush me or was rude at my questions. I bought donuts, cake pop, cookies, candy and cake. I only spent around $15, which was very reasonable for everything I bought. My kids are going to be thrilled when I get home, as well as my boyfriend. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who's in the area or looking for a place with homemade sweet treats!
This is the best doughnut shop in town by far. Although the big draw is of course the doughnuts they do have brownies and cookies and other things. They are always trying new things and are doing a lot of custom cakes and other things lately. They've also been supplying things to other businesses such as the Coterie nearby. If I wasn't concerned about my waistline, I would be here all the time.
I just got maybe the worst doughnut ever. The cake doughnuts were burnt so bad they had charred flavor and what i was told had white fluff in them had been filled with an empty filler. I will never go back to gingerbread house again when Dan's is out ill get hostess doughnut from a bag before i waste 8 bucks on their terrible product. With another new place coming to town i see them fallin.
