Literally the grossest pizza in IV. Have eaten here and knocked back pitchers with friends on multiple occasions, being drunk makes the food taste better. When someone suggests it, I'm never one to complain, because it's okay, but seeing the way they treat Mexican American students is nasty and I'll never go back. As a White girl, I've never even been carded here, but they asked for IDs and turned away UCSB students who had valid, government-issued IDs from Mexico. You can't say they're worried about losing their liquor license, I'm 3 for 3 for not being carded. And the drunk people in here get physical and loud... it's not worth it.
My hubby and I love to come here and each order a big slice and share a delicious garden salad with homemade ranch dressing! The price is right and the food is tasty. The owner is always attentive!
That's a very nice place. The guy working at the bar and the chef are just amazing. We had a complaint about food and they immediately resolved it with very good service. Much appreciated! The pizza is really good. Will come again. :
I am sick and tired of the racism perpetuated by Trump’s America. My Mexican friend who was over twenty-one and had a US government issued ID was just denied alcohol from Giovanni’s Pizza in Isla Vista, California, because businesses have the “right to refuse business to anyone.” The store manager kept demanding to see his passport/papers for identification. When he calmly explained that he was legally allowed to have alcohol, he was aggressively pushed out of the way by a belligerent, white bystander standing behind him. Five minutes later, the manager of Gio’s accepted our foreign, white friend’s German issued ID without so much as a glance. What troubled me most was the animosity exhibited by our student body who passively watched as my fellow Gaucho was discriminated against. As we walked out of Gio’s, they avoided eye contact, avoided the moral responsibility of their basic humanity. This is modern day lunch-counter racism. This is the same type of racism displayed against African-American students who were demanding equality peacefully at lunch-counters in the South during the 1960s. As members of this student community, we must not stand by these types of racist practices. If you stand in solidarity with your fellow Latinx students, stand with us and boycott this business. “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” - Martin Luther King Jr.
Last night I was kicked out of this establishment for trying to reason with the manager and defend my partner against discriminatory actions. All while being physically and verbally harassed by one of the customers who was allowed to stay there.
Great pizza and the beers are priced fairly. The specials are even better! They also have TVs to watch the game. Very popular spot
$35 for a large half cheese half hawaiian pizza when a large hawaiian is $19.99???? The little girl behind the register said it "probably has to do with the like specialness of it"...
Friendly staff, fun music, great vibes - what more could you ask for in a local pizza place?!
Gios is racist, look at their facebook cover photo, that is all, don't eat there
Lots of room. They have a new cook so orders get out way quicker now.
