About

Rustic-refined California cuisine by Executive Chef Justin Abram

Description

At Girasol, the backbone of our refined-rustic cuisine is defined by the changing seasons and our relationship with the local farmers. Girasol’s cuisine was built on the tradition of Chef CJ Jacobson’s interpretation of the California cuisine, and continues with our new Executive Chef, Justin Abram, who tastefully enriches that tradition with his own take of avant-garde cuisine.
Girasol is focused on supporting local farmers and purveyors by using sustainable products to bring our guests a dining experience that is both approachable and unique.
This is the fundamental culinary concept that inspired our namesake, the Sunflower. It evokes a warm and inviting environment suitable for any occasion. We welcome you to experience our cuisine and hospitality in a neighborhood-friendly atmosphere.

Dear friends invited us for dinner - and we were looking for a quiet restaurant where we could sit and talk while enjoying the food. We try to check things out before we went - reviews the usual mix of amazing and absolutely horrible and their website. I must say, it always puts me off a bit when restaurants "hide" the prices on the website. Why do so? There should not be a secret - and you sure do not want to "negatively surprise" any patrons realizing that the place is over their budget after having been seated. We went on a Saturday night - and it was - apart from the over-tired kid on the next table - quiet as quite empty. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and very willing to accommodate every of wishes - and we really tested him ;- For us as Europeans, the service speed was perfect, for Americans unusually slow. We all found the menu very inspiring - but, and there is always a but, it comes somewhat silly when you strive that you constantly change your menu and still advertise it as "the spring menu" .... at the end of August ;- The portions were small, beautifully presented and very tasty - the prices were, as I had already assumed by not being available on the restaurant's website, a bit on the high side. We loved the food, we loved the place, we loved the waiter - and still, I am not sure if we will return. As from taste and ambience, they sure have exceeded our expectation, I award them four stars in my rating scheme I normally do only give four stars if I vow to return, five only if I was prepared to make a 30+ min detour to go. If you like to try new restaurants and are not on a budget, I can highly recommend the place.
Always an interesting experience. The food is great, the service is even better. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
I was really disappointed in the food. Nothing really stood out for us. Service was great and the restaurant design very cool.
Incredible dining experience with absolutely delicious cuisine!
Food wasn't tasty, and we ordered 5 different dishes. Presentation is nice, but felt like the Chef was cooking/serving the food to impress, not taking into account how it will be natural/ comfortable to eat. Taste wise, everything just felt unbalanced, not particularly good, nothing memorable. Half of the menu is small portions tapas style and not even one dish shined. Check was $95, for couple glasses of Pinot Grigio and 5 dishes. We didn't stay for desert as the whole appetizer+entre part left us disappointed. Great atmosphere and service.
Great food, service, and decor. Eclectic menu. We had the whole snapper and kale deliciuos and the duck kwith fennel and peaches. Both dishes were excellent and things we couldn't have easily prepared at home. Serviceable wine list, which is possibly the only area that could use some improvement.
Between the four of us we had four appetizers, two entrees, three sides, and two deserts. I would say pretty much everything was top notch - the meatballs could have used some work. The service was superb. Nice work Miles and company. Whoever they hired to design the logo should, however, should never be hired again. Seriously it's is impossible to read the name on the sign. This is definitely not a $$ restaurant.
My wife and I and some friend at times have visited the place a few times and were never overwhelmed by anything in the place. Service is just OK , not friendly or great -even when the place was almost empty not much attention is paid to patrons. The food selection suppose to be all locally grown and fresh - suggesting a healthy motif however, the only way you can get a Fish Plate was "Deep Fried" - Confusing. During our last visit they did not have ANY fresh salad selection because the farm that supplies their produce did not have anything they wanted that day - disappointing as we always have fresh salad with our dinner. The decor is fresh, modern and inviting but surprisingly, the place lacks any atmosphere. Prices are moderate-to-high and are not supported by the overall experience The reason we visited a few times? it is just around the corner from our home. Based on our last experience where they did not have any fresh salad selection, we probably will stop visiting
My daughter and I came in for a girls night out and we ordered the Chef's choice, which is a nine course meal. We were so pleased to see that EVERY dish was gorgeous to look at and also amazingly delicious!! Hamachi, crispy duck, a potato dish to die for and more!! Can't wait to come back with my husband. It's a little on the high end pricewise but I'm happy to pay for the deliciousness.
Just came back after a while. Not because we don't like it, but because it's a bit of a haul from home. Absolutely love this place! The cocktails were on point. Staff was friendly. Ambience was nice. Can't recommend it highly enough.
