Only place where you will find 2 miles of sandy beach on Lake Superior. We love all pets bring them all! It’s a relaxed and peaceful campground. Stayed 4 nights in mid September. We loved the place. Campsites were spacious, lots of trees, each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Many sites are full hook up, lots of tent only sites. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. The owner is interesting and extremely nice. A short walk across the road is Lake Superior and a nice sandy beach. If in the area we would definitely stay there again.
We really enjoyed our stay here for 7 days. The sites are great with lots of trees for shade. Brewery was also a great addition to our stay. This is a very unique campground but in a good way. Lots of interesting buildings and history. The owners are truly very nice and down to earth people.Rooms: 5/5
Wow. Great location!! I stayed here twice and don't think I would return an after an unfortunate incident, it was worth me packing up and staying on the beach for my final night. Both times 2020, 2023 I stayed here I was sold a single tent spot in the exact same location. Both times the neighbors had came to tell me that the campground often sells spots that are on their property, especially when full. They were respectful, but I was going to have to move to be off their private property. It was quite annoying and embarrassing to have to repack up and try to get another spot. Bathroom and showers work, but are majorly lacking. I don't expect a hotel stay, but would expect shower handles to not be electrical taped together, stall doors to be lockable etc. Cool place but felt as if it was all held together with a hope and a prayer. Met some cool folks, watched the owner's daughter I guess? or an employee? come to scream at them at the top of her lungs, say some highly inappropriate things to them I cannot repeat on Google, very antagonistic, outright mean and caused me to just up and leave to sleep on the beach. If there was an issue with music I guess the cause?, just talking with them should have handled it. Was surprised to learn that the group is actually used as promotional material pictures and the like as they have been going up there for almost 15 years. They've had previous problems in the past, and for sure after this one, they have decided to seek other places to take their group. and I don't blame them one bit. If you want a short run to the beach while being accosted by family members of the owner, be their guest. I wish you good luck.
This is a completely honest review: Jeff was pretty cool down to earth and all that. The trees made great shade and a pretty RV park, we were charged $89 per night and there is no septic, you have to unhook and drive your rv to the exit to dump septic and there is no water for a tank flush at the septic dump. We could not take a shower in the RV because there was nowhere for the water to go, other than just dumping it into the sand. The bathrooms were mid at best, the toilets and sinks all leaked and the floor was always wet, if an elderly person slips in there they could get seriously hurt. The water pressure at the toilets was minimal, they should use a tanked system because of the lack of water pressure when all 5 showers were on. The showers there were fine no complaints on that. The bathrooms and showers are cleaned everyday at noon. The Fact that the lake was right there was nice, but you have to cross a 2 lane highway. The RV slot we were put in was super tight, my dad who is a professional truck driver who puts down well over a thousand safe miles a week had troubles getting the RV in, it took three separate attempts to get it in. Also I cut down 12 dead trees, carried them over to our site, cut, split, and stacked the wood on our site, a female worker, name unknown, was showing somebody to their spot, right next to us, she then offered the wood to the people, and when i said that is was my wood she said that she thought it was brought from the firewood station from the previous campers, the previous campers who were a group of dudes who just hang out for a few days were there for 3 days, on the second day a female worker name unknown came over and was, from what i heard, i was not there, she was screaming at them out the window of a vehicle over a noise complaint, I was with them they were not even loud those same guys who have been coming there for 15+years are finding a new place to go as they are made to feel as if they are no longer welcome there. And the water being "iron water" it was severely discolored and tasted awful. The person taking reservations overbooked and put a couple of people right next to us in the group area 19B it is NOT an RV slot, no water, or electric at that spot they were very upset. WiFi did not work unless standing on the deck of the building. That is all.
Beautiful location. I have no idea of the financial status of the owner, but a couple more staff could help complete cleaning projects and staff the new brewery to bring in more revenue and increase hours of operation. The campground has amazing history. Great atmosphere, trees everywhere. Loved our stay there.Service: 3/5
So me, and one of my good friends came here last minute it was probably around six or 7 PM by the time we were able to find a campground that suited us and if you’re looking for something more rustic and family owned, this is a place to go! The owner seemed really kind, and the campsites were good! Personally, I like seclusion, and it didn’t feel like I was crowded there. We had our own space, and the manager/owner even talked us, through which campsites would be the best if we wanted to be away from other campers. Each campsite has a fire pit and grill and an electrical hook up. It was my first time visiting but if I ever go back up to the UPA, most definitely will always go to this campground hands down! For me, it was a good escape from the city life and made me feel like I was back in my roots. They also do have bathrooms and showers. Don’t give me wrong. You are out in the boondocks so it’s not exactly luxury but they do have very good hot running water. I would just recommend bringing flip-flops or crocs while you’re in the showers. Honestly that’s just the sanitary thing to do anyway. Directly across the road from the campground is actually the coast of Lake superior and you can even go down there and have a fire on the beach or just have a beach day! With my experience and traveling, I would say, this place is great! Not to mention it is very close to a lot of beautiful scenery and landmarks, especially hiking trails and waterfalls within the area so it’s kind of perfect or at least it was for me and my friend! All in all I have no complain and I will always go back ! Nearby activities: There are plenty of beautiful sites to see around the upper peninsula from the campsite! From hiking to a beach day or seeing waterfalls.
This is a wonderful campground! I’d say it is definitely rustic so don’t expect it to be like a fancy RV park or KOA. But there are clean bathrooms & showers, a game room, and also a brewery open a couple hours a night. It’s woodsy, so there’s privacy from one another. It’s across street from roadside park on the Lake, so good for sunset viewing. Have to cross highway though. And it’s a very quick drive to downtown Marquette! You can tell the owner puts a lot of love into the place. We will be back.
Very rustic but very cool campground. Our site was spot on level. Reasonably shaded with some privacy but hey its a campground. Went to the brewery and had alot of fun meeting other campers and sharing stories. Did not use showers so i can't speak to that but i did see others coming/ going. Centrally located to Munising and Marquette with beautiful sites to see. Enjoyed our visit. Jeff was fun!
Very rustic camp site. We were just tent camping but the whole site was pretty wooded. The owners knew who we were when I walked up to check in and were very friendly. It is just outside of marquette and right across from lake superior. We will definitely be staying here againRooms: 5/5
This place has an F rating with the better business bureau and I know why! Their policy as stated on their website is no refunds for any reason. I get that, if you can't rent it out to someone else. You should also be making sure to state that when people call to make reservations and then you follow it up in writing in an e-mail along with detailed charges. But, our reservations were not made online and the policy was no stated on the phone and nothing was e-mailed. My parents are elderly and this was to be their last trip before we sold the camper because they no longer get around very well. My mother fell and sustained a serious break to her leg a week before the trip. I called the campground and asked if there was anything they could do about even a partial refund. The woman answering the phone said she would talk to the owner and call back. If they could rent out the space, well maybe we could get my parents almost$400 back. They did not e-mail any kind of receipt. If it couldn't be rented and you didn't want to take that loss as a business, that is understandable. But, they never called back. They just charged the money. We had a friend check out the campground on the nights my parents were to stay there. They rented this spot to someone else each and every night! And, they still charged charged my parents almost $400 for a 4 night stay that they never made claiming they could come back any time this year. That won't be possible since the camper is being sold. I understand no refunds is the policy, but really?! Double dipping like that is a dishonest policy to have. Leading someone to believe you might help them out due to extenuating circumstances and then not doing anything but gouging them without a word is a bad business practice. Renting the space over the phone to an elderly person and never telling them about the policy to begin with or following up with e-mail is also a bad business practice. As you can see from the owner's response: ONLY rain checks, NO refunds! The owner is not addressing any of the other issues in this review like not calling back and charging despite being able to rent it out to others. Also no response about not reviewing refund policy on the phone or emailing receipts or refund policy. My review stands!
