A great way to take a break while waiting for your partner’s procedure at McKay Dee Hospital! It’s a 5 minute walk from the hospital visitor entrance along a pebble based trail.
Beautiful shaded trail around the pond. Restrooms available. The day we went, they had just put 400 trout into the pond for fishing.
While Google maps isn't updated to be able to adequately add the correct parking lot for Glassman pond which is just southeast of McKay-Dee hospital the directions definitely get you to one entry point to the pond - to a little stairway across the street from the post office. Super cute little pond! Absolutely gorgeous little area -some people don't like the lily pads but coming from Minnesota I absolutely love them.
It's a pretty walk but the back part is fenced off and a little ugly. You don't see water lilies in Utah very much and that was nice. I wish people were better at cleaning up their garbage. Fishing is meh. It's so wonderfully sheltered by all the trees! There are turtles.
Restrooms and a small picnic area with a few tables are next to limited parking. The trail is paved from the lot towards the pond and then you will find paved and non-paved sections circling the pond. Very brushy along the edge of paths and near the water. Plenty of leaf litter and branches are in need of removal. There are even some very large trees knocked over. I bet this was after all the fierce wind storms this year and hopefully cleanup will continue. There are four platforms/docks on the west side of the pond. Two of the docks are ice-bound at the moment, and the other two were being used by anglers. Nobody seemed to be catching anything today. The trail goes all the way around the pond, but the south and north sides have tall chain link fences that prevent you from reaching the water and block your view. Probably to give the ducks some safe cover. I saw Canadian geese, Wood ducks, and Mallards in the water. Also saw some small bass. Overall a pleasant but small area to enjoy.
2022 Lily pads are cleaned up but now there is broken logs in the way of some of the docks to fish off of..Big holes in the docks safety issue.. Needs to be cleaned up. Trash all over! So many lily pads its hard to fish without getting hung up..If you just want to walk around the loop thats nice.
Awesome place to fish and actually catch something. Best pond from kaysville to ogden. It holds plenty of bluegill and trout. No monsters here but worth your time. Worms and bobbers work great use 2lb-4lb line, #8 or #10 bait hook, small bubble float with a stopper and couple small split shots 8inches above hook and you will catch a fish.
A bit over run by lily pads. Gotta get there first to have a chance at fishing as there are only 4 docs I believe to fish from and are the only spots with a little area not completely covered in lily pads. But if you are one of the lucky ones the fishing can be decent. Bring bug spray for sure. If you are going for a leisurely walk, this pond does offer a beautiful walking trail.
Fun seeing the young kids out fishing, I love all the Lilly pads on the pond. But hard to find and not sure if I parked in a good spot but it's a good break in the day to visit a minute.
Good times fishing was nice. Caught like 5 in 2 hours. Great place to take the kids.
