Possibly the “nicest” staff of any hospital I’ve ever been to. Everyone from reception to testing seemed to be happy to see you. Passed the cafeteria and although I couldn’t eat due to test fasting, it smelled delicious and was super clean as was the rest of the hospital. Plenty of parking, clean restrooms and well kept grounds.
From the moment I walked in to the ER at 8p on a Thursday night, everyone there took care of me. The triage people wasted no time getting me the fluids I needed with a calm and assuring demeanor. The ICU folks were informative, supportive and reliable. The nurses downstairs were helpful and attentive, never leaving the room without asking if I needed anything. I went through a lot of ice water. The doctors were understandably quick on their rounds, but still managed to be interested, asking questions and being upfront with their assessments. Best of all, EVERYONE upstairs, downstairs, and inbetween radiologists, respiratory, transporters, custodians, etc. were SO approachable and willing to ease the mood with conversation. And the FOOD!! The food was EASILY restaurant quality...best omelet I've ever had. Best brussel sprouts I've ever had. Kitchen staff was calling my room to make sure I was eating. The pharmacy followed up and made sure I could afford my meds AFTER I was gone. The whole place--top to bottom--took care of me from top to bottom. 10/10, two thumbs up, 5 stars, highly recommended.
Not great experience. I'd try one of the other hospitals that reviewers suggested if I have a choice in the future. And Northwestern is nearby too. Similar to the other experience someone posted before, spent a long time waiting and wondering where the nurses and doctor disappeared to gone for hours at a time, no call button, had to ask registration staff after waiting 40 minutes to *go*. They also seemed agitated, distracted, and not very helpful or compassionate. They left the door open too so it was loud. Front desk and registration staff were nice though!
My parents both work in Healthcare. Veterans Administration. Never, and I mean never have I ever seen a hospital treat their patients the way they do. People at the front? Awesome. Amazing people. Courtesious and kind. This is where it starts and ends. My fiance has a condition and when they tried to move her she had such low potassium that her body seized up. Then they drop her on the floor. Slow to bring her IVs, hostile and rude and everyone there has an attitude. Oh and they refused to let me in for half an hour even though I followed the ambulance. I confronted them about all these transgressions and they had the nerve to tell me they are "here to help" and that "I wouldn't understand how short staffed the world is" uh.... Yeah. I would. You aren't here to help you just want everyone to go away. That much is apparent. I'm warning all of you, if *anything* happens to you healthwise, do yourself a favor; cover yourself in water, and roll around in some dirt and start singing some Taylor Swift songs. This form of "self care" would be better than any care from this Hospital.
Biopsy was not fun but the crew made me feel comfortable during the procedure! Explained in detail what they were doing and why.. the Doctor and all the staff were very kind and made me feel less fearful of the biopsy.
Staff was very accusatory/rude towards me when I wanted to bring my toddler into the room with me and my husband. I was not told this was not allowed at scheduling or when entering the building and checking in. But the nurse and manager both spent more time trying to tell me I was in the wrong rather than just chalking it up to miscommunication on their part. Staff needs to be reminded they are in the medical field and they are seeing people on some of their worst days in their life and they should know to show empathy and kindness first. I pray no other person feels the way I felt during my visit. I will actively look for a new hospital at this time.
Adventist Glen Oaks is not a good nor reputable hospital, I assumed when UChicago Medicine joined with this facility things would change unfortunately that did not happen. Everyone who has resided in DuPage county for numerous years and those more recent recognize the 'Motto' connected to this hospital. It is said, "That if you go to this hospital you or your loved ones may not survive." Or, "If you check in Glen Oaks, you won't check out alive. It's sad But a reality that numerous people know and acknowledge.
I had no issues at all with anyone, from admissions to all the C.N.A's and nurses , they were so attentive and were very very nice , the food was absolutely outstanding , I was there for about 7 days after surgery, everyone was outstanding and the rooms were warm and inviting , like being at the 4 seasons hotel it was nice to be somewhere that cared about you and your wellbeing so you could work on getting better , hats off to everyone there , you can make a difference in someone's life and your living proof . Thank you so much ...
Oh, boy, what to say, what to say. Okay, so, while I've never been admitted here personally, I have been to the ER for myself. On the other hand, my mom has some health conditions and has had to be admitted as an inpatient from the ER enough times. From putting all my experiences together I have of Glen Oaks hospital, I wish there was an option for no stars or half a star. While there are some very nice doctors & nurses, sadly and unfortunately, the bad definitely outweighs the good. Without getting top personal, I've had one too many run-ins with nurses being very unprofessional, disrespectful, distasteful & down right rude to my face by saying nasty comments, dirty looks & talking smack about me, my family & other patients. One time when my mom was admitted for a week, they discharged here while she was more or less "a ticking time bomb". They did their tests, scans etc while she was admitted and didn't even mention to us she had lung cancer. We only found out because about 2 months after being discharged we went to her primary doctor for a follow up and he told us she had an area on the lower right lobe of her right lung. All while her papers from Glen Oaks the Dr even noted this but did not even bother to tell us. Like I said, we found out 2 months later. Thankfully our primary dr that's been in our family since I was 2yrs old had caught it which basically saved her life. Also, this isn't the first thing that Glen Oaks missed that could have had bad detrimental outcomes. We only started going to Glen Oaks because it's closer to us when we moved to Glendale Heights. Before we'd go to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. All and all, avoid Glen Oaks Hospital! If possible go to Central DuPage Hospital! Which is what we do now whenever possible. To anyone who dares to brave the waters, lies etc of Glen Oaks, I wish you luck LOL. Just beware
Staff is always friendly, efficient and customer service driven. I have had a myriad of tests, labs & procedures throughout the last several months and I have been accommodated with my procedures with time constraints and the staff has gone above & beyond.
