I had to take my girlfriend to her knee appointment at highway 270 and olive street road. While we were there, she said we should go visit our people at gobble stop restaurant. We had been there on several occasions and have ordered trays of their "turkey tips", which they are famous for. After the appointment, we drove down the street to gobble stop and went in. There was a line, so we just waited cause we were like the third person in line waiting to get served, and the place is small. When it came our time to order, he stated that he didn't have any more turkey tips cause of call-in orders and the holidays and so on. My girlfriend stated that he should have a sign to let people know when he runs out or announce it in the restaurant. We still placed an order of a turkey leg with one side and a gobble stop platter minus the turkey tips. The food was good but my girlfriend complained because she got "pork and beans" instead of baked beans. It was still a good lunch and we will go back again.
Unfortunately my experience is based on what I feel is a lack of good customer service. I’ve heard some good things about this place but the hours and days of operation are so limited, I was excited to try this on my day off. I live in the city so the location isn’t close. I called several times before I made the trek to the location but didn’t receive any answers. Considering its popularity and the fact that the google information showed it being open I drove out to Gobble stop. Imagine my disappointment and agitation to see that the restaurant was closed and wouldn’t reopen until after the Labor Day holiday. The restaurant does have a phone number so in the interest of providing customers a good experience how about updating the voicemail to include hours when you’re closed, particularly if those times are during your normal business hours. It’s also possible to update your hours online so that it displays when people google your restaurant. Just some recommendations to improve the experience of potential customers and mitigate bad first impressions.
I've enjoyed all of the smoked meats I have tried, but the turkey ribs are by far my favorite and the only place I know of that serves them. They are fantastic! My second favorite is the smoked turkey leg, available on Fridays only. The options on the online menu are just a small percentage of what is offered on the menu in the store, so if you've never been here get yourself down to the restaurant before making up your mind. I found this place online and had been wanting to try this place for years but it wasn't convenient to home given the location and that they close at 6:00 pm. I finally got down to the restaurant and now I regret not making a better effort. I love their smoked turkey.
Great little restaurant! The food was delicious. We had the pulled chicken sandwich and the turkey melt. The sweet potato fries are amazing. The smoked wings are the Bomb! Friendly service. Got the order for takeout. Small place with about 5 tables inside and a few outside. They have odd hours so make sure you check before you go. Very very busy on Sunday...would try during the week.
Go and support this family owned business; you won't be disappointed...it was our first time there......they were out of gluten free bread/buns; so I ordered an open faced turkey breast sandwich and my hubby ordered the turkey breast sandwich on a pretzel bun and we ordered the wood-smoked chicken wings.....Oh my, it was delicious---just delicious......A+++ The owners came pit and spoke with us, as it was close to closing time...... Go support this beautiful family owned business. I promise you will not be disappointed!
I had always wondered about this place, because I play pool right next door at Pink Galleon. I caught them right before closing and was welcomed by the owner. He even allowed me to stay and finish my meal after the doors were closed. The turkey bites were the best food that I had ever tasted. I honestly have never tasted anything so good. The baked beans what delicious and the green beans were very good. The workers were very friendly and made me feel like I was at home. I am giving this place five stars in every category!
Yeah, you’ve gotta go here. Stumbled upon this place by accident and decided to get some food with a friend. Some of the best chicken wings I’ve ever had, smoked to perfection and crispy. Quality of the meat was terrific, no fatty chunks or chewy tendons, size was above average. Pictured are the smoked wings and the fried chicken sandwich. Chicken sandwich was MASSIVE. Split into 2 halves with a friend and that was about the size of a standard sandwich from a fast food joint. Delicious as well. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back to try the whole menu, especially the turkey tips I keep hearing things about!
Food is fye. Today I had Smoked wings which are the best wings I’ve had in all of St Louis St. Charles Mattingly’s is now in 2nd. Had the Turkey Ribs which was a first for me but they were REALLY good. My wife had a Turkey Melt sandwich which she said was good as well. The sides could use some improvement but they are very doable given that the store’s staple is the smoked & BBQ’d meats. The sides we had were fries, baked beans, and corn on the cob. In my opinion the fries were the best side. Very nice family owned pop-up in Creve Couer. I’ll be back. Especially for them wings. I really look forward to the Turkey Tips they were sold out today but I will update the review on those when I try them.
5 stars for sure! Great wings that were very big compared to the competition. The wings had great smoky flavor with a great sauce. I recommend getting the sauce on the side because it was plentiful Most places sides are just okay but both of these were great. The coleslaw while maybe pre-made was still very good with a unique flavor and the green beans while out of a can were seasoned well and were delicious. The family owned vibe was evident and great to see. Eat here and skip the chain restaurants, places like this deserves to thrive!
Great BBQ, baked beans, potato salad, and friendly service. No regrets trying this establishment out. It’s my first time in St. Louis and I found them online. Kid-friendliness: My son and the other children were treated great
