Bally's used to be The Mardi Gras. From what I can tell, the Poker Room is still around and offers both cash games as well as poker tournaments. It is one of the few casinos that offer $5 Craps and Black Jack tables as well as $1 electronic craps where the big pair of dice bounce around. So, for those items, I would normally give it five stars! My experience today, however, is the reason for lowering my review to only three stars. My brother, sister-in-law and I decided to have lunch at Bally's Cafe. I think the only one who really enjoyed their meal was my brother, who ordered eggs with bacon and hash browns. Toast did come with his meal but for some reason, he only received a half a slice of toast! My sister-in-law order the chicken tenders with fries. The fries were fantastic but the chicken tenders were more bread than meat! I ordered a Ruben with the thousand island dressing on the side because I much prefer mustard with my corned beef. Well, our meals seemed to take longer to arrive than I expected. My Ruben arrived with the TI dressing on the side, as requested. But one bite into my Ruben and I immediately realized that my sandwich also contained TI dressing! The server apologized she acknowledged that I had asked for dressing on the side and said that another plate would be out in 5 minutes. Well, 15 minutes later it arrived, but by this time, both my brother and sister-in-law were almost finished with their meals. I should say that neither of them are ones to complain at a restaurant, so I did not make a scene by complaining about the timing of the meal nor, it turned out, about the quality of the meat! The corned beef on the sandwich was on the tough side, to say the least; there was not any sauerkraut on the remade Ruben; and the pickle wedge that accompanied the original Ruben was now absent! I wound up eating less than half of the Ruben basically because it was not great and compounded by the fact that I had two people who finished their meal and were now waiting for me to finish my meal. I personally thought that the server should have realized how the re-making of the meal affected the table dynamics.
I enjoyed the casino here. First floor being slots, the second floor is table games with more slots. Plenty of sports betting here, and lots of amenities to go along. The staff are friendly and the drinks are awesome here.
While the machines weren't paying out well during our visit, the staff were friendly and energetic. Someone was always around wiping down machines and picking up glasses left behind. They take a lot of pride here which I appreciated. The bartender was friendly, asking how we liked our visit, and suggesting drink options. We were provided drinks while gambling, which another nearby casino didn't. So we spent our whole visit gambling at Bally's because of the friendly inviting atmosphere.
I like the poker room here. Even after all the changes they've managed to offer somewhat traditional formats for Texas Hold 'em and there always seems to be plenty of action. On Sunday and possibly Monday they run sit-and-go tournaments at different buy-ins from $120. They're 9 handed with a fair prize payout. I prefer Seven Card Stud, but there is little interest in it anymore. $1-$3 No Limit Hold 'em is the default cash game here and you can expect loose play from your opponents.
They have the best food!! I had the hot wings last night with onion rings. They were so good! The Cafe was closing and the still took my order. Take out . That's why I didn't get a picture. Great job Cafe !! I would of gave Bally's Five stars however the power went of twice and I had to wait to long on the slot machines to load. Not fun! PS it gets dark in the casino when the battery backup lights don't light up very well. Maybe you should put some more lights in the other areas not just by the gaming tables.
All the staff were great. I feel bad for them it is sooooooo hot in this place. They have pooooopy AC, and we left do this. But we were having a great time just could not hang anymore. We allllll were really sweating. Lol
There weren't many tables open during my visits, but they had few $5 games if you can tolerate newer players at the same tables. Rules seem to be acceptable for a reasonable chance of winning. The $7.77 10 OZ prime rib is hard to beat, but you do need to give them your personal info for a player's card. Not sure how generous or not they are on the comps, as I didn't put in too much play time here. The dealers and pit bosses seem friendly, and I will play here more in the future.
This establishment is one of the better casinos in Black Hawk with current technology in the slot department and a touch of history with devices from the past. Great energy . This establishment offers slots. Table games and much more to fullfill your gaming experience.
Had an awesome time at Bally's Casino. The employees were all friendly and their service was great. Plus their $7.99 prime rib special was delicious and the best value ever! I'll definitely be going back soon!
Only place in town to play poker tournaments. Good service, soft fields they're just missing a hotel...
