I’ll share on here since they immediately took away their Facebook reviews after I posted it on there. Gold’s used to be a relaxed gym. They are now turning it into an uptight commercial gym like Crunch and Planet Fitness. That’s fine for the older and/or inexperienced crowd. But Gold’s is known as an Olympic gym as has been known for that for years and years. I have seen many of the serious lifters leave this place in the past half year. The past two weeks has been especially horrible. They took away the majority of the turf horrible idea and put machines where the turf used to be. There was already no room to stretch and do abs as it was. So good luck finding room to do anything on the small strip of turf they left which they put the sleds on. I already know of many that have left due to this. The management has also gotten weirdly strict with things such as having your gym bag. The colored hair woman that works up front also forced me to take my picture for my account and told me I wasn’t allowed in if I didn’t take it. I as well as others witnessed her being visibly rude to customers as well as myself. I have already cancelled my membership due to the downfall of the gym being a nice and relaxing place to be as have many others. I encourage others to do the same.
Well, I expected much more from this company, let’s started from no any types of towel hooks in the showers, no at all! Is it so expensive, I’ll buy it for you guys! Very dirty, everywhere, even sanitation sprays need to be clean, air filters, I believe it was never been clean since they open. This location must to have attention of city sanitation department.
They charged us a gym remodeling fee back in July and I can not tell you where they spent the money. I heard they bought some new spinning bikes but this isn’t planet fitness, we expected upgrades to the equipment on the floor. The machines are raggedy. The seats are tore and will rip holes in your shorts due to the tore leather. There is gum all over the floor. It’s been one piece under the leg press machine for weeks that sticks to anyone shoe who uses it. The seated calf raise machine is rusted out on the part where you adjust the height so you are unable to adjust it your height. There is never any paper towels in the dispensers to wipe machines down. And the soap dispensers in the bathroom? Ha! Good luck with that. So basically that equipment is breeding ground for illness. I bring my own pocketed Clorox wipes and hand soap. The front desk is rude during the day, the night time attendants are pretty nice and approachable. If I didn’t opt for the contract I would cancel. But at least I’ve prevented and spared two of my friends from joining. It’s a new gym opening in Antioch, may as well go there when they open.
Joined a couple weeks ago. Helpful staff. I go early mornings and it's not crowded. Haven't used all the equipment yet, but what I have used is in good working order. Can't beat it for the $16/mo special I got.
I really enjoy the zumba classes here and I've heard good things about the other classes. However, they don't offer class by class payment a standard at most gyms. I have a lot of friends who would love to go, but can't because it isn't worth them investing in a whole membership when they only want to go to one class They are seriously missing out on a whole client base.
Like many of the other comments stated; this place used to be nice. Now it's just dirty. Lots of equipment will be down for weeks. They got rid of more than half the turf and the TRX rig for some reason? They charged an equipment upgrade fee early this year and doesn't look like anythings been upgraded. Luckily the old manager with the colored hair is no longer there. So that's an upgrade. Soap dispensers in the bathrooms are always empty and/or broken. They got rid of a deadlift platform a while ago, now there are only 2. And the newer people use those for curls and anything BUT deadlifts. Unfortunately for me, due to location, it's either this or Planet Fitness. Otherwise, I wouldn't still be here.
Used to be halfway decent, but getting worse. Sept 12th. Waaaaay too many A holes just standing around socializing. Equipment is often in bad shape or broke, everyone loves to show off their ability to lift a weight but rarely put them back on the rack. Disgusting bathrooms. A staff that audibly talks about not enjoying their job at the front counter. Oct. 3rd almost half of the equipment is broken w/o anything being repaired recently it's getting worse. Terminated my membership today
Overcrowded, rude staff, has become oddly strict over bags, if you're too loud when lifting they'll say something, run down equipment, broken equipment. It's basically planet fitness but terrible equipment and rude staff to summarize.
Just an update, I cancelled my membership a long time ago and you should too. Joined Trufit in Antioch it’s much better than this place. People actually show up happy to work there. I’ve had two of the incline benches in incline position snap to a flat bench while having dumbbells in the air…the second time really messed up my shoulder blade and when I told one of the workers, he barely cared. I reported it to management, they took a statement and said someone would call me they never did. The place has lost all hope and is only here for your money and nothing else.
