My daughter has had abdominal pain for a few days, which is worsening. It was on the weekends, so we took her to Golisano Children's Hospital. It was an unpleasant experience for us as a parent and for my daughter. My daughter always has difficulty with needles, so I have chosen to drive 50 minutes away from my house because I believe that specializing in children will do an excellent job, but I was wrong. I understand it is sometimes hard to get the vein, especially in kids, and my kid is one of the hardest. A nurse failed to get veins in both arms. My daughter was crying a lot, hurting and scared, so her hands froze and could not open, and her leg was cramped. I had to calm her and tried to open her hand for a few minutes. I tried to understand the situation and did not say a word, but sadly, the nurse's attitude was disappointing; I could see the nurse was unhappy and lost her patience. She feels annoyed. During their time in the ER, I expected her attitude to be different when dealing with a child. Secondly, until now, when I sat and wrote the review, I did not know the " provider" name. I put it in the quotation because she did not wear a badge, went to the room without introducing who is she, and talked to us about a bunch of labs that she would be ordering and questions we had. I didn't want to be rude and ask, "Excuse me, who are you?". After I went home and read the discharge paper, I recognized the attending physician was a man, not a woman, so I wondered who talked to us. Is that a PA, APRN, or someone else? I don't know whether it is an issue because my experiences in the previous hospital are different. Before my daughter's discharge, we have a chance to see the provider. They will explain what medication they gave her, why they gave it, and any questions or concerns before she was discharged. At Golisana Children's Hospital, an RN told me these medications were prescribed to pick up. It is hard for me to understand why they prescribed what they prescribed for my daughter. I did not see the provider at all. The nurse is unhappy when we have questions, and seems to bother her. Different hospitals may do things differently, but it is not a place that I should not be to experience like this.
Had to take my baby to the ER on a Sunday night, our stay was for three days. The hospital staff starting with the front desk ladies to the nurses were extremely attentive and helpful with my husband and me. They took really good care of our peanut, I couldn’t be more grateful for everything they did for us. We were in the Seventh Floor, KUDOS for Ariel CNA, Molly and LaurenRN’s.
I took my son here after a bad scooter accident. The staff was so kind, understanding of his fears/sensory issues, compassionate, and go above and beyond to care for their patients. The doctors and nurses were AMAZING and explained everything very well. I absolutely love the child's life specialist Nicole. Wont go anywhere else for treatment for my kid.
I’m very dissatisfied with the service this hospital provided today with my daughter and granddaughter, a mother with an infant should be a priority, not let them wait almost 4 hours to be attended. Almost at midnight we left there , not organized appropriately. Left unattended without providing the Tylenol needed while having a fever. Recommendation to a pharmacy with a prescription that could not get, due to it was so late , pharmacist aren’t open. Wish they could do better and have more consideration. Bad communication and not kind nor attentive at all.
I had an emergency c section here where I delivered my premature baby. All the staff and nurses were really compassionate and helpful towards me. They have been doing an amazing job taking care of my baby boy at the NICU.
This is an amazing hospital! We have had 2 stays for our 15 month old. The first one we were transferred here from another hospital. What a difference! This staff knows how to work with Kids and even had to fix the incorrect IV placement from the other hospital. Very friendly and very attentive. Our second visit, we came into the ER at 11pm because our baby was showing signs of Respiratory distress. When I walked in I was greeted immediately and registration began. As they were taking my information a nurse was already observing my daughter’s breathing and taking notes. Within 3 minutes we were in a room and within 5 minutes a Doctor walked in to see her. The entire staff was empathetic and understanding about how anxious we felt for our daughters well being. WOW! I have never seen a ER work that fast or with that much empathy. Our journey took us to PICU on the 4th floor. Where we stayed for 2 Days before being moved to a regular room. This is a teaching hospital so doctors usually have students with them observing but not practicing. Additionally, they make rounds in the morning and talk through each child individually as a team and invite parents to be a part of the conversation about their child. Communication was clear and consistent. Care was top notch. Every Nurse and Doctor ends their time with you asking “is there anything you need that I can get for you?” As far as the facility, it’s new and felt clean. Equipment was in great condition and had a lot of newer state-of-the-art stuff that I’ve not seen in other hospitals.
Thank you Carly the manager , if she is still there and thank you everyone for helping me deliver a beautiful baby girl with the best experience on earth. I think a man named Aaron did my epidural. Fantastic experience from labor and delivery to nicu graduation.
Absolutely impressed with everything about this new facility. The staff, the security, the nurses, the receptionists, the team of doctors, they were all very welcoming and friendly. It was extremely clean and organized. Nobody can get in without ID and identifying what and why they are there and I love that too! The entire surgery process was amazing despite the stress levels I had. The director of nursing came to check on me to make sure he quality of care I was receiving was good, which was also impressive. The anesthesia team was also very helpful and kind. It was a blessing to be able to experience nothing but positive during a stressful time in my babies life. I would give them a 10 star if I could!
I just spend 5 weeks of my life here with my baby and let me say thank you. Taylor the CNA was so kind, always treated me with respect and works so hard to give great care to the babies and her coworkers. Sue, Becky, Dynasty, Shannon, Kaylie, Courtney, Serena, Miriam and Emily are incredible NICU nurses and gave me so much hope and helped me to learn how to care for my preemie. I will never forget these ladies, especially my daughters OT Karen, I have learned so much from her to last a lifetime of caring for babies and she deserves credit for being amazing and passionate. Also want to say thank you to the 2nd floor cafe staff who worked so hard to keep mothers like me fed. You all make a big difference and make this world a better place! :
Beware! This hospital BROKE my babies leg twice in one month on two different stays. I have proof x rays the day of admittance show no fracture & then days later another x ray shows a broken leg. It’s a teaching/learning hospital! This is not the place to come if your child or children need care. They are practicing on your child. For starters, they pick and choose which child is more sick than the other and whoever is more sick gets to go first. My child was swelling up from her hands down to her feet and a couple children who had a cold or the flu not crying or in pain went ahead of my child when I got to the ER first. Secondly I sat in the waiting room for 3 hours, then 7 hours in our private room.. they tried 4 times to take my child’s blood until I said enough is enough. These nurses are NOT experienced enough to be taking a babies blood and just torturing my child. Also after all that bloodwork and pain and torture on my daughter. They have no answers to her swelling. I guess that’s why it’s called a TEACHING hospital. They’ve got a lot to learn. Not happy with any of my experiences here at this hospital. Don’t even get me started on the NICU and their NICU nurses. Worst experience ever. Rude nurses careless slacking on their job making babies wait almost an hour past feeding time to be fed. Don’t forget about touch time where the nurses decide if it’s time for you to touch your own child after being separated when born not premature nothing.
