I Had a 0900 delivery appt. 01/17/2023. I arrived at the security / check-in area at 0818 and there were three trucks ahead of mine. Check-in was straightforward and easy enough. I was then staged to await a door becoming available. The wait for a door was minimal, maybe 25 to 30 min. There is ample room for backing into the doors and from what I saw the dock indicator lights functioned properly for all doors. Communication with the facility with respect to lumper fees, paperwork notifications etc. was satisfactory and the employees I had personal contact with were friendly and helpful. The only area I found to need improvement is unloading time. I was in the door for approx. 4 1/2 hours. Now, was there was an underlying issue the lumpers were dealing with? Obviously I don’t know. If so than it’s understandable. I’ll wait until a return trip to make a final decision on that. Overall my experience was not bad and I would deliver there again if need be.
They start taking drivers at 0500. Don't park on that long driver coming. Plenty of parking coming down the main road. Watched a guy loose his mirror on the driveway. Narrow dark and tight and there will always be a knucklehead doing it as they are special. Capstone lumper..average wait 2.5 hours for 16 pallets.
Apt at 12:00 came one our later because of weather conditions. Was told that they already rescheduled me for Monday it’s Friday . ONE HOURE LATE AND THEY ALREADY RESCHEDULED!! What a LAZY ppl. No other words except profanity. sad that this ppl won’t even take to accountability for their lack of understanding and respect drivers time. Because they went home …
This place is a complete waste of time, I only have one pallet for them weighing 335 pounds, it is taking them over an hour to get it off my truck, do you have to wait in your truck until they are finished unloading. If you don’t believe me check all the bad reviews this place is Completely unorganized and in disarray, starting from the guy in the gate house all the way to door number 24.
So I've been delivering to this particular warehouse since it was built new by Perkins years ago for a different company, today driving for myself making a delivery I am now forced to use Capstone lumper services because of Covid pandemic... yeah 2yrs later still using that to not allow drivers on the dock to unload their own delivery. Capstone is pretty fast at unload but I believe I could unload in same amount of time but that's not even the issue. A charge of $245 for a half load already mostly broke down to warehouse TI/HI yet I'm charged that much is blatant extortion of the trucking company. The charges are unwarranted for the amount of product or work being done. I'm sorry but this charge is heinous and Gordon Food Service should be absolutely EMBARRASSED to be charging their customers that much!! This affects cost of products, shippers as well as the receivers & customers of GFS!! In a time of record inflation & cost in the transportation industry, these lumping rates are OUT OF CONTROL and as a driver & owner/operator I will make phone calls about this to political parties, as well as transportation representatives
Checked in at gate @ 0710 for a 1000 appt. Parked out of the way until they called since I was early. Was in a door by 0725 and unloaded by 0750. It took me longer to get these guys paid than it took them to unload. Once my payment went through they immediately released me. Probably the fastest in regards to Capstone Lumpers. Have to stay in your truck. Just follow the easy to read instructions the guard shack gives you. Hope your visit was as pleasant as mine!
Very slow, start your sleeper clock so you have drive time. It's really a shame how these places ding you for being late and do the same if early. Actually they make you wait way pass your scheduled time if you are early. Yet we truckers are appreciated. In our dreams This time i had a full trailer floor load, check in at 430, door by 5, and done by 830. Great job and an excellent improvement. Keep up that energy
5 am appt. Still on street after 6 am waiting foe them to open the gate. Have 2 drops going to be late now.
Appt 09:30 Time in 08:30 time out 12:30 can always be worst. But it was only 13 pallets.
Overall not too bad somewhat fast unloading once you get a door place is kinda of tight to move around, and no parking at facilities but there is parking on Jhon Handcock rd leading up to the entrance gate.
