BEWARE!!! Do NOT go here unless you are willing to break the bank because of an incompetent shady office staff!!! I had a wound that would not heal for 5 months so I was suggested by friend to visit a wound care clinic. I have a rare connective tissue disorder that makes Wound healing difficult at times. Before going I called and asked them if I needed a doctors approval to see them and they said no. I asked if they took my insurance for co-pay and they said YES. Perfect I made an appointment. When I arrived it looked like a normal specialist office. I walked in & nobody appeared to be violently sick or hurt. I did what you normally do when you see a new doctor, filled out my forms & gave them my insurance information....but shame on me for not reading on how they bill....didn’t think I had to since I was told that they accepted my insurance and co-pay before I arrived. I was there for maybe 30 minutes and all that happened was that the doctor came in with another female doctor they looked at my leg and said OK get her this salve and put some gauze on it and come back in a about 2 weeks. Then they insisted over and over again that I order the salve through their mail in pharmacy. I told them no I would just pick it up at my pharmacy and they insisted again, stating that it would be less expensive. I gave in & said ok & I was told I would have it in a few days. A week goes by and it’s still not there. I call and leave a voicemail & got no return phone call. I came back a little over a week later, they looked at it and said it looks great, we’re done here. I let them know that I never got the salve but that I would still like to have it because there are not many ointments that actually work for me with my connective tissue disorder. Come to find out their office staff never updated my phone number or address with their mail in order company & the company needed to speak with me before they would ship it out. I finally fixed that issue & it was $50 for the tube, which seems ridiculously high. The next thing you know I get a bill from Concord foot and ankle clinic for $250. I had no clue what that was for because I had never been to that place. Then I get another bill from Goshen General Hospital for $520. Again I was never at the hospital so I was extremely confused and I held on to the bills waiting for my anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield paperwork to come. I got that paperwork and still didn’t know what was going on so I called the Concord foot and ankle clinic and they let me know that their doctor they billed me for is the one that they subcontract through Goshen Hospital to basically be on call and work at the wound care clinic. Then I called Goshen General and found out that the $520 I owed them was a charge for what they consider to be an “observation room” that they basically rent out to the wound care clinic! Are you effing kidding me?!? I was billed like this was an emergency room visit as an extension of the Goshen Hospital so all the charges were applied to my deductible instead! I was misinformed from the very beginning. However after I spoke with anthem they said if they could change the way they billed it out they could put it in differently as a specialist and I could just be accountable for $80 in co-pay. After spending over an hour on this The wound care clinic finally called me back. It was the same guy i talked to when i made my first appt and I got shoved in my face “Well remember when you signed that piece of paper that describes how we bill out, that was your acknowledgement. We can set you up with some financial services instead to help.” I was then passed to their program director & I told him that before he wasted another 10 mins of my time today just to hear her tell me the same thing that she better be able to change this. She said the exact same thing to me. Like I said before, Shame on me for not reading that document but shame on all of them for not explaining to people when they get there how they operate. This is a Crook of *** & I’m now out $420.
