My roommate and I have lived here for 2 years and we've had a great experience. It was a little bit rough at the beginning of 2021 with contractor issues and delays in amenity updates, but I think the office has gotten it together well and always responds to my emails quickly, specifically Kelsi. Maintenance is quick and helpful. Compared to a lot of places, Gov. square has a ton of amenities without the overwhelming fees. The front pool is always well kept. The new gym, dog park and office updates are beautiful. You can't beat the location & the price point. We'll miss our little townhome & patio!
My husband and I have had a great experience here. We lived here for two years, and it’s been really comfortable. For the price, this complex is excellent. There are the basic cons to living in an apartment setting that you would get anywhere, but it’s all around great. New gym, fun pool, walkable area, quick maintenance, extremely kind office staff, easy parking, etc. The apartments are quality and easy to live in. The office staff are 5 stars on their own. They really worked with us while we have lived here and we have so appreciated them. Of all of the places we have lived in Columbus, this is the best for the $$. Highly recommend!
Beware when moving in, they use toxic oven cleaners. For weeks after I moved in I could smell it and had respiratory issues and allergic reactions. Whatever they use to clean fridges and ovens should be illegal . The Apartment is poorly insulated and gets cold at night. Doesn't matter if it's summer you feel like you need to run the heat at night. Not really worth the price.
I have enjoyed my time living in Governours Square Apartments. As a graduate student at OSU, it is a great location -- not too far from campus/nightlife but also a less crowded area such as the University District. The complex takes great care of their landscape making it a beautiful and peaceful place to walk my dog, especially in the summer with all the wonderful trees! The community is well-kept and the maintenance staff has been friendly and timely with every request. The amenities are an added bonus, with three pools throughout the complex, a basketball court, two tennis courts, and several laundry facilities to utilize if your unit does not have washer/dryer included. The leasing staff takes time and effort to foster community engagement by hosting events throughout the year. For example, for Halloween, they requested that any tenant planning to give out candy let them know and they created a map for the children to pick up so they knew where to go for candy without having to bother tenants not participating. I would highly recommend Governours Square Apartments!
Impossible to get in contact with the rental office unless you go in person. All calls are forwarded to a call center who never relays message to office. Currently have 4 calls that were never returned within one month, one hasnt been returned in over 2 weeks after going into the office in person about my lease. Also took 5 days to get my bathroom faucet fixed. Very unprofessional and hands off approach for an apartment complex.
We've lived here for almost 2 years now. I've personally enjoyed it. It's close to my kids school and the landscaping is always nice. The washers and dryers suck because they are always broken but with so many people using them everyday what can you do? The office staff has always been nice and helpful and has given us breaks when we are late on rent and honestly that's been extremely helpful. I've had several friends move in since living here because we enjoyed it so much. The noise can be a bit much because the walls are thin but we have 2 kids so if we are loud I can deal with others being loud. Fair is fair I suppose. My car has been broken into once and we had a guy covered in blood scary everyone in my building on Christmas last year but every place is going to have it's faults and it's better than being on the street. All in all I like it here and so has my family so 5 stars
The entire management company here is terrible. Don’t depend on anyone who answers phones to relay any messages to the property manager because they won’t. Don't even worry about contacting the "property manager". Mike is as useless as they come. Everyone here deflects and blames everyone else. They tried to tell me, an engineer who has worked in pipelining all my life that it takes 3 months to locate a water leak. Then another person told me they weren't able to find a contractor to do the fix. LIES LIES LIES. Don’t make a maintenance call bc they won’t show up to fix anything. I have never met a more useless property management company in my life. I have had to deal with a water service line leak that leaves my front porch wet for almost three months. No one seems to care. When it gets cold the water turns to ice and my son and daughter have both slipped. This is a safety concern that no one seems to care about. One word describes my living experience here - TRASH. And by the way, all of the “five” star reviews are from people who do not live here. Do not move here because I promise you’ll regret it. Just to update everyone!! I slipped on the ice patch outside my front door a few months ago and completely tore my Achilles. For months I told them of the safety concern outside my front door but they never cared to come fix it. I am consulting a lawyer. My surgery alone cost 13k and I haven’t been to work in 6 weeks!
I would not move back here if this was the only option I had. Not only did my dog get attacked by another dog of an aggressive breed that they say they don’t allow but management misplaced our keys after moving out and said they would charge us even though the lost keys were a mistake on their end. Be prepared for them to schedule people to do “upgrades” during the day and give you very little notice. The electricians that “upgraded” our apartment left marks on our walls, a hole in our kitchen ceiling, and old outlets and receptacles lying around for us to have to clean up. We also had an excessively loud neighbor that we notified the office about no less than 10 times and they did absolutely nothing about. They didn’t care that this was disruptive to feeling like we could live comfortably in our home. They also switched management and didn’t have any information transferred over making it inconvenient for us by having to get money orders for rent for multiple months before the new online payment system got set up. The gym was absolutely disgusting for the time it was open, many machines were broken and they tried to put way too many machines into a very small space. They also renovated the gym but didn’t offer residents another gym option while it was being renovated. Their office staff changes very quickly and none of them seem to know how to communicate residents concerns with one another. We turned in our move out notice then received a notification a couple weeks later to let us know our lease was coming due and we needed to let them know if we were staying or not. We paid almost $1200 for a small, terrible floor plan that was not worth it.
Good apartments and all but the laundry machines are absolutely unreliable. It’s cost me $12 to do one load of laundry today. Most of the machines don’t work, and more of them just take your money even if they’re broken you have no way of knowing they’re broken until you pay
This place is terrible. All the negative reviews are true. I never in my life have lived somewhere with as much noise and non-accountability. We moved in here over the winter. Our dishwashers never worked, we've called maintenance about. Everything about the laundry machines are true they never work. All the car break-ins it's true. The walls and floors being thin so you can hear all your neighbors very very true I barely get any sleep here. Lawn maintenance comes out before 8:00 in the morning. If you say anything to the staff here they immediately deflect responsibility.
