We didn’t stay overnight. We came for lunch in the tavern, arriving at about 1:30 PM. The interior of the lodge and dining room is beautiful with vaulted ceilings and timber beams. We ate on the “porch” which is actually enclosed by large glass windows with beautiful views to the lakes and the town of Grand Lake. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my husband had the elk burger. Both were excellent. The portions were large and the fries were tasty and crispy. Our waitress Elizabeth was a sweetheart, friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.
This place is a time capsule! It's beautiful! Unfortunately we were not lucky enough to stay here but however we did come for brunch and it's the best brunch in town! From the food to the setting. Has a cute enclosed patio with stunning view. It's the most coziest lodge I have ever seen. If you can't reserve a night here, I definitely recommend to at least come have some food here. Such a magical spot. Can't wait to come back.
Restaurant review only. Easily the best food in town. The chef really knows what she’s doing. Menu had both classic and more interesting choices, all nicely put together. Dinner is a Prix Fixe, at 65 per person and well worth it. Solid bar bites menu too if you’re looking for something more casual. Much better than anything else around.Location: 5/5
My partner and I stayed here for one night and we thought this place looked magical online. Man, were we wrong. Cool place for lunch and views, but not for anything else. We stayed in a dark, stuffy, dingy cabin. To pay $260 for one night in a cabin that is basically a college dorm room is quite ridiculous. The microwave was broken, the shower was dark and tiny, the bathroom door couldn’t shut all the way because it was crooked, and parking was on a first come first serve basis, so we had to park around the bend and down the hill. Couldn’t see any mountains from our cabin either. Not to mention we thought we were lost pulling up to the lodge at night because there were no lights or lit up signs telling you the lodge was ahead. Dinner at the lodge was $65/person and it was TOTALLY not worth the price. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of the elk chops. On a positive note, the view from the lodge was beautiful. The staff were pleasant. Lunch was tasty, including the turkey sandwich. I would go back for the view but not for anything else. Not worth the price. At all.
We didn't stay at the lodge... just came for lunch with a group of 10. No one in the group actually said the food was all that great. Several ordered the Eggplant Sandwich, which was burned, awfully chewy, and bland. The Pulled Pork in the sandwich tasted like it came out of can. The waiter was also not all that friendly. Again, we were a group of 10 and he was visibly upset when we asked if we could divide up the group into three separate checks. I know this is not the easiest for a waiter to handle, but I have seen this come together for even larger groups with ease at other restaurants. The waiter we had was visibly mad at this request to divide up the check into 3 groups. The views at the restaurant are awesome, that's for sure. I can't comment on the hotel, but the restaurant is a bit of a racket... super high prices for what you get, food/presentation not so great, unfriendly waiter. Sorry, this was my experience. At least we enjoyed each other's company and the views.
I didn’t stay here but ate two meals here and it was amazing! I had the stuffed French toast, bacon, toast, and eggs over easy for breakfast. Everything was great and the French toast was fabulous!! The bacon was also some of the best bacon I’ve EVER had, yummy and thick! Jennifer the hostess and Rick the bartender were awesome and attentive!! The burger was outstanding and took me two sittings to finish it. Thanks again and see you next year!
This is such an amazing place to stay. The views of Grand Lake, the location and the beautiful grounds are just unmatched. Additionally, it is dog friendly and has a restaurant with great food. During our recent stay, we had a small incident. It was reported to the GM and he contacted me within a few hours to resolve it. There is a focus on guest experience and providing great service. We highly recommend and will be back.
Reading the reviews of this property you'll note most are for the restaurant which may be good but we didn't eat there. We rented a 2 bedroom cabin. We walked into a very cramped cabin with no room at all, no chair or place to sit and socialize. The rooms smelled musty and there was no AC. There are no views from the rooms even though we asked for a lake view. Their idea of a lake view is looking through a small window next to the bed. Very over-priced. We left and asked for a refund. After much haggling, we finally got one. I recommend looking at the room when you check in first before paying. We went into town and found something much nicer for about half the price. Avoid this property.
I grew up going to Grand Lake, Colorado every summer as a kiddo. I have some of the best memories of my life in this small mountain town. Because of this, my little brother decided to get married at the Grand Lake Lodge in the end of August. The day was absolutely perfect and could not have been more beautiful. The lodge hosted the after-party, the food was delicious, and staff were super kind. It was my partners first experience in Colorado/Grand Lake and he is already planning our next trip there. There is something magical about this place.
My boyfriend and I stayed for New Years and it was great. Rooms are clean. Area is nice. The only downfall was we got a room with a sleeper bed and the sleeper bed is a twin and not in another room as described. Other then that, great place!Rooms: 5/5
