Decent “stick to your ribs” food. The catfish was unexpectedly spicy but good, Mac and cheese was a bit overdone and nothing special. The yeast dinner roll was good and the blueberry muffin was phenomenal. Chicken livers were a nice surprise. The butterscotch pie was amazing! Definitely a bit pricey catfish dinner with two sides and a slice of pie was $21
Had lunch with my son-in-law today at Gray Brothers Cafeteria. There was a relatively long line, but it moved quick and we had a great tasting lunch in a very nice dining area. I had ribs, mashed potatoes & gravey, and some rhubarb pie. It was great! Look forward to going back with the extended family!
Drove over an hour to try this place. It was good, a little pricey, but still good. We didn't eat everything so there is at least another meal for my husband and I. I would come back again for a special occasion. Parking: Large parking lot.
We were there celebrating my birthday on Thursday, Jan. 27th for lunch. Everything looked good going done the line. The staff was friendly, fast and professional looking. We found a less crowded back room with a nice fire going in the fireplace with an empty table right in front of it. It was so cozy! Our waitress Savannah took excellent care of us. She was standing against the wall, so all we had to do is look her way. She took care of getting us several pieces of pie to go. The food was hot and delicious. We have come here for years; a few times each year since we live a hour away. This was our favorite trip! Thanks for making my birthday meal one of the best! We'll be back!
We ate a late lunch on black Friday after watching the Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats win the 2A state championship!! Food and service were excellent! Highly recommend this place! Everything tastes homemade. Dessert selection is huge!!
Always a great family and friends gathering location. The food is always awesome. Their fried chicken is an item my dad and I always and I mean always get. Their pies are homemade also, so hard to pick which one to get. Parking is easy unless you are there on a holiday. Then you will most definitely find a line of other happy people waiting to get inside.
Food was good and plentiful, staff was very friendly. Vegetarian option for an entree would have made it 5 stars.
An Indiana staple, or in other words A MUST HAVE!! Don't let the line out the door scare you because it only takes about 25 minutes to get to the cashier. As you battle your hunger pains, I suggest the fried chicken,..it is finger lickin' good, but we can't copy off of KFC. If you enjoy strawberry pie, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND... Might be the best you ever had but don't take my word for it. Try it for yourself!!
Came here during the church rush on Sunday, so it was pretty well packed, but they did keep the line moving. Got the fried catfish, which came with a couple of hush puppies. The catfish was pretty basic, nothing exciting. The hush puppies were interesting, as they were heavily seasoned, and had a bit of sweetness to them. The green beans were pretty good, with big chunks of pork mixed in. The macaroni and cheese, again was pretty basic. Macaroni salad was not very good. Tasted kinda funky, so it got pushed off to the side after a couple of bites. But the real star of the show was the strawberry pie. The tartness of the berries was beautifully balanced by the sweetness of the fist-sized dollop of whipped cream on top. Overall, I wasn't impressed or put out by the experience. The food was mediocre, at best, and I sort of felt like I was in a herd of cattle lining up at the feed trough. I can see why cafeteria style dining has fallen out of style. But I suppose it's nice to still have one around, if only for nostalgia.
Best chicken livers I've ever tasted. Butterscotch pie like grandmas . Couple hours away but will go back. Amazing.
