We first found Gray Lumber Company when we needed a very specific, hard-to-find cedar siding material. I think they were the only company that had it available, so we really lucked out. Around the same time, we were looking for a new front door, so we decided to ask them about some options—that's when I first got in touch with Christine. I think I checked in with her first in early 2022, and she responded super quickly with a quote for what I was looking for as well as several other options. We ended up putting it off and checking back in with her about a very specific door model we liked several months later, and she was still quick to respond and helped us figure out all the details for it. Christine was incredibly organized, and really informed and knowledgable about the different door varieties and details involved in ordering one. Honestly, she was the entire reason we chose to continue with Gray Lumber Company instead of the others we looked at. They weren't the lowest quote, but they were the most professional and when we went to visit the store, they just had a really nice vibe. The whole team, from the people at the desk downstairs to the staff upstairs—everyone was friendly and greeted us quickly which made such a comfy/trusting first impression. Christine was also really communicative when the door was delayed only a few days, which was super nice because I had an installer scheduled shortly after the expected delivery and needed to make sure the door was available for that appointment. In the past, I've had to follow up myself to confirm details, but with Christine, I could trust that she'd keep an eye on it and make sure things went well. When we brought the door home, it was in perfect condition, and we're beyond happy with it now that it's installed. The sizing and everything are just perfect, thanks to Christine. They offer so many different kinds of home materials/supplies here that I'm sure we'll work with them again, and we're so glad to have such a reliable company to go to!
Reason for Visit: Special Order of rough-sawn Doug fir for a 200+sf Pergola Project. The contractor sales reps are professional and very helpful. In fact, everyone that I interacted with seemed to like their jobs and have respect for Gray Lumber. Conclusion: A company that you like doing business with.
I don't buy here every time because it is so far away, but when I do it is always worth my while. Their pricing on lumber is hard to beat. Recently picked up some 2x8s to redeck my car trailer. The guy pulling the lumber knew he needed to pick some nice boards so they fit right without me even saying anything about it. A+
The company I work for sends me here for supplies. They always seem helpful and do a nice careful job loading my supplies. Still great service. Great customer service.
Unbelievable customer service! All your lumber and hardware needs available! Way better than the big box hardware stores!
Background: My contractor used Gray Lumber to source new deck construction materials. I did not have any direct interaction with this company regarding the actual materials purchase. This review pertains to materials delivery on 2023.07.10. The Gray Lumber delivery truck driver/forklift operator was unnecessarily careless unloading the truck. He could have/should have parked the truck opposite my driveway to facilitate forklift maneuvering, and he could have/should repositioned the truck within the roadway for better access to both sides. Instead, he chose to operate in a cramped condition, causing curbside landscaping damage to two of my neighbors yards, and mine. Pros: Brittany sp?, who took my verbal damage report, was professional and helpful. Danny was also helpful subbing in for Yantz, who would normally resolve this, but was unavailable. Cons: Someone at Gray Lumber decided that my contractor should undertake damage repairs which he did vs them, since, I did not have a formal business arrangement with them, but my contractor did. So, I have to ask, what if that careless truck driver had damaged someone else's property enroute to a job site where the homeowner himself/herself was performing the work i.e., no contractor involved? Based on Gray Lumber's theory of responsibility above, the homeowner would be responsible to repair damage. What? Regardless, I contend that Gray Lumber abdicated their responsibility by shifting it to an uninvolved third party i.e., my contractor had absolutely nothing to do with the damage. Bottom line: Be vigilant with Gray Lumber deliveries. Observe the entire operation. Note damage. Report same immediately.
I needed a top rail for my deck, a 20 foot long, continuous piece. I called around, and this was the only place that had what I needed. The cost? About $1.00/bf! That's about $24.00 for that one board Douglas Fir. Knowledgeable customer service, and I wasn't pressured to go for the "upsell". I may have found a "go to" place.
Large selection of tools and hardware. Very small parking lot. Not big enough to support the business the vast array of products create. I went there to buy a 2x12x16 and it took nearly 30 min to load. It was not very busy. Prices were good. Paid 93$ at Dunn Lumber for a board that cost 73$ at Gray. If you are in a hurry I would recommend elsewhere.
I recently went into Grays and Gary helped me so well, above and beyond. I needed to match a board and unfortunately it was old, and unavailable. Gary offered to take it home and match the board, beyond anything I could ask for and am very grateful. Local service at its finest.
Great place to pick up some lumber, they’ve been around for a very long time. The staff was very kind to me and guided me through my small purchase of 2x8’s 24’ in length. Will buy from them for through the duration of my workshop project.
