Great Oaks Charter School is a free, college-prep public charter school opening this fall in Bridgeport!
GREAT OAKS CHARTER SCHOOL – BRIDGEPORT OPENING FALL 2014!
What sets GO-BPT apart is our tutoring model. We deliver at least two hours of one-on-one or small group tutoring to every student every day.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
GO-BPT will cost nothing to attend and will be open to all Bridgeport students. We will not deny admission to any student on the basis of aptitude, disability, native language or any other characteristic. In fact, GO-BPT will specifically target English Language Learners in Bridgeport.
In the first year, GO-BPT will enroll 100 sixth graders. We will add one new class of 100 students every year until the school serves grades 6-12.
OUR ACADEMIC MODEL
At GO-BPT, we believe that every child can succeed. What makes us unique?
• Unparalleled Individualized Instruction: Every Great Oaks student will receive at least two hours of individualized tutoring every
day delivered by our full-time Tutor Corps.
• More Learning Time: Our school day and year will be significantly longer than those of the Bridgeport Public Schools. Our school day will run from 7:30am-4:45pm with additional enrichment opportunities from 4:45pm-6:00pm.
• Unrelenting Focus on College Readiness: Every GO-BPT student will know that his or her goal is to graduate from college.
• Character Development: We will actively develop character traits through a school culture that reinforces our core values.
• Relationships: GO-BPT believes that family engagement is a critical component of student success. Our principal, teachers and tutors will engage in at least weekly individual parent outreach.
