Green Ginger fell really short of the mark today. The Lunch Specials, which others have raved about, were relatively inexpensive, but that was their only redeeming quality. The fried rice tasted funny a bit like paper and the Sweet and Sour Soup, was all sour and no sweet. Our entrees weren't much better - the Kung Pao Shrimp was light on shrimp and generic. The Mongolian Beef was way too sweet, with the sauce overpowering any taste of the beef - perhaps intentionally. We left with much of our food untouched. Service was mediocre - somewhat slow and no recommendations. We won't be back.
This place was pretty great. We showed up with a large group late in the evening. They seated is very quickly and helped us order our food "family style" so we could all share and sample different dishes more easily. The food came out of the kitchen quickly and it was delicious. There were lots of leftovers that I am looking forward to eating tomorrow.
Wonderfully nice family, good service and great American Chinese food. There are way too many haters who've reviewed this restaurant with crummy reviews just because it's not Seattle or LA high end authentic Chinese food doesn't mean it needs to be since you're not in either of those cities you're on VASHON.
Overall I would say 4.5* because of aging interior, but this is a foodie's place. Their Chicken Curry best yet we tried in Chinese style curries, Fried Rice, soups, service, and the individual combo specials make it 5.0 ***** for every our visit here. General Tso's Chicken and other dishes tend to be a touch too sweet for my palate, but I think most people love them. Mongolian Chicken and Moo Shu Chicken are very good. Moo Shu pancakes are very excellent. Quality of all dishes has not diminished over the last 8 years we have been eating there. Service is really nice. Overall it is primo Chinese style food. We drive there 2 hours each way and even take a ferry to get there, and we have never regreted it. It is well worth it if you value good food.
Not able to post less than 1 star so i cant give a full review. Worst asian fare in all of washington...and ive had $1 gas station shinese food. Dont eat here and pay $18 for the runs when tou can grab a pepperoni stick and a bag of cheetos that are healthier and havr more flavor....for $15 less. Seriously how is thid place still open? I have tried it once every couple of years hoping they had either new management or kitchen staff. I am 42 years old and have eaten at 300+ asian restaurants and this is by far the worst ever...anywhere. Please dont give them your money so we have the chance of getting a horse trough we can drive up to instead and pay $20 to dip a ladel into a bucket of slop water which will be healthier and more fulfilling.
We loved the place. The food was fresh and delicious. The portions were great and the prices were very reasonable. I would make the trip to the island just for this place. I highly recommend trying if you are ever on Vashon Island.
I love to eat out or get take out here, it's perfect American Chinese food. The service is always nice to talk with while waiting for my order to come when I get take out and they are also happy to help with anything when you eat in. If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out!
I was disappointed in the sweet and sour pork and sweet and sour chicken, no veggies at all in it. The Mongolian beef was way hotter than the 1 star that was ordered. The egg rolls were delicious, however.
This is mediocre at best and a complete rip off. The only asian restaurant I have ever ordered from that does not serve rice with teriayki chicken. So after a 25 minute ride home to find out I have to make my own rice is beyond irritating. No apologies. When I placed the take out order they should have said they do not serve it with rice. Never will I go to this over priced estasblishment again.
Solid American Chinese restaurant with classic Americanized Chinese dishes cooked well. It is owned by a lovely local family. Our family's go to comfort food spot.
