6/10/23 Cindy is fantastic and fun to talk to. Highly recommend the raspberry ice tea. Also the steaks are great. This place has a great vibe about it. Very friendly and very attentive. Great ghost stories and would highly recommend you ask for him. As far as food had the fish tacos. Great flavor. Being a prior call center Branch Manager I think he would make a great supervisor here at Green Steet. He is always on top of things. Food is always great here. Travel photographer from Galena

My friend and I both ordered the macaroni and cheese, it was truly tasteless. There was nothing cheese like about it, the only reason I’m giving it any stars is the garlic toast which was amazing. The service was just okay and the restaurant itself is very nice. Maybe their other menu items are better but be warned the macaroni and cheese is a flop.

My favorite restaurant in downtown Galena! It was the perfect atmosphere and the best people work here. Shout out to the staff; Jody, Landon, Alicia, and Andrew for helping make my birthday one of the most memorable ones yet to accompany my stay at the DeSoto! I already can't wait to come back. Great ambience. Great for couples and groups. Don't go here if you are single persona non grata. I was seated as far back in the room as possible with a sea of empty tables between myself and everyone else. And yes, I am fairly normal looking, clean, wearing a big ring, etc. And thoroughly invisible. Several groups were seated after me and were brought water, menus, and greeted with a smile. I finally kept trying to catch the server's eye, from my seat in the back 40, finally did and then started waving. He came over and very sweetly admitted that he didn't see me. I ordered a cob salad, pretty hard to mess that up, it was good. If you're a couple or a group, go in and enjoy yourself. If you are only one person, do not enter this place. It was humiliating.

Excellent drinks and the bar tender was really friendly. Great place to grab a quick drink before bed.Service: 5/5

Disappointed with the burger. Disappointed with the service. And the atmosphere was okay but I think if the service is better you feel better as a person sitting alone. I came to this restaurant because I thought I could buy a steak for lunch but that was not on the menu. So I opted for the burger, and they told me that the burger was formed at the restaurant. But it was very obvious it's a machine formed Burger. Just very typical and boring.

Good food for the handful of times I've been here, but my review really is powered by those cheese curds. I'm not sure what it is about them... but they are the best cheese curds I've ever had. They're like mini grilled cheese pillows. If I'm ever in the area now, I make sure to grab them.

GST is part of the Desoto House in downtown Galena and offers a cozy Tavern style atmosphere and great menu selection. They have specials every night of the week and we went on their all you can eat cod night which we ordered along with the salmon burger. The fish was good but more of a light batter that isn’t as crispy as I prefer it but was still tasty. Coleslaw and potato salad sides were a little bland and needed more seasoning but the salmon burger was very good. Garlic fries are a must! Pricing is fair and staff is nice. They do not take reservations and it came get full being part of the hotel, so come earlier or expect a wait on the weekend especially.

The Green Street Tavern & Restaurant is beautiful however I would not advise eating there in the summertime. We have been by the DeSoto House hundreds of times and always talked about eating there so we were glad when they had a reservation open on our most recent trip. The food was ok but we were all so grossed out by the number of flies everywhere including in our faces amd on our plates we just couldn't really eat it. They were killing flies all over the place, using their hands yes we watched her clap her hands kill a fly and continue on, a server used a pamphlet then picked the squished fly off the wall and throw it away, they were using a fly swatter in the room with all the condiments in it then they hung it back on the wall. I asked if it was normal for them to have so many flies and was told "Oh yeah, last summer they were even worse." The service was good the food came out in a timely manner and was plated very pretty is all I can tell you.

Stopped here for lunch this last Saturday. We were sat immediately with no reservations, order taken within minutes, and food came out super fast. The food was delicious! My whole party was in heaven while eating. We sat on their patio, a bit narrow and tight, but nice to be outside in the fresh air.Food: 5/5
