It is an unanticipated "sleeper". I was tipped off to its beauty by one son. My train to Asheville, the supposed gem, left me here and I was so impressed I pushed back my reservation there a day.
Getting down here with baggage’s is a nightmare, didn’t know where the station starts or ends at.
Station is so small and always closed , not to mention it sits nestled in an area that seems pretty much secluded from the city or retail stores or restaurants when waiting for next train. The lounge is more of a room with a few seats and a non modern feel…yep, dark, lonely and secluded gives off a real “Green Acre’s” kinda vibe !!! The best I can say is that it’s sways clean.
Its always so beautiful. The ppl are friendly too
This station is not open anytime of the day. I wanted to take the train from here but it’s unmanned and you cannot buy tickets here. There is no place to sit because the station is never open. Plus it’s in a very bad section of town. I wouldn’t leave my car in this parking or even wait for the train even if I could find the schedule of when it stops here. I cannot imagine that it ever stops here.
The train is a great way to travel and this station is clean and easy to find. However, in the last few months Amtrak removed all the agents leaving only a caretaker. All ticket and luggage transactions are handled at trainside and no longer in the station. This is not difficult but can be disconcerting to travelers.
If I could give negative stars this would be the place. Trains are a waste of money. Even trailways is more comfortable, more reliable, and more affordable. This place is a joke and shouldn’t even be called a station. Amtrak is NOT the Amtrack from the old days the porters are rude and argumentative. Conductors are unhelpful and arrogant. Seriously you are better off on a greyhound.
I’ve been stuck waiting on a train to move for an hour and a half. The end of the truck was about to pass the gates and it stopped. Could it not have moved a little bit so people could get through. It’s dangerous. The store I had to go to has only one way in and one way out! Very upset!
You don't check bags. Bathroom was clean. Waiting room was opened but a lil warm.
Second time this June running late. My daughter's train from D.C. was 45 minutes late and now the train from Birmingham AL is over an hour late. Really need to get it back on track!
