A not-for-profit girl's softball organization, providing education and leadership for girls' ages 4-18.
Since 1962, Greenwood Lassie League (GLL), a not-for-profit girl's softball organization, has been providing education and leadership for girls' ages 4-15 who want to learn the art of softball playing. This program gives the girls the opportunity to have fun over the summer months, while teaching them skills such as problem solving, hand-eye coordination, and how to be a team player.
This past year, GLL had over 190 girls participating in the program, giving the organization 20 teams. Along with those girls are many volunteers including a Board of Directors, coaches, and countless parents helping any way they can.
The Greenwood Moose Lodge leases the land behind their building to GLL at a very reasonable rate. GLL has worked tirelessly over the years to prepare this land and has recently been able to produce an authentic ball field atmosphere. Through fundraising and generous sponsors, GLL has been able to make significant changes to the ball diamonds recently. Fencing and dugouts can now be found at all four diamonds, and bleachers are available at two of the ball fields. Our long-term goals include having running water, restrooms, a concession stand, and a storage area.
