BE WARNED THERE IS NO OFFICE, THERE IS NO WAITING AREA, THIS IS A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET!! The bus never showed up. There was another person waiting with me who said they were going to use PeterPan instead. Greyhound failed to notify me that my departure was cancelled, instead they kept telling me it was delayed until finally they said I missed the bus when I did not, it never showed. Then I call back and I get told to continue to wait for the bus to arrive. My last communication was to be told that since I missed the bus there was nothing they could do for me. Greyhound left me stranded and I had to take 3 trains to get to there then borrow money to get back because they refused to provide a solution to their error. They should not be allowed to operate anywhere if they're going to endanger people in this capacity. My phone died, I didn't know anyone where I was at. I was a sitting duck for the weirdos watching me waiting for it to get dark enough to do who knows what! I spoke to four reps that told me to wait, two that told me there was no train coming then ignored my requests for solution to me being stranded. Those two stayed silent on the phone and one hung up on me. Another rep told me to wait until 8:00 PM after that then when I called back they said there was nothing they could do for me. This is the way we treat people today?
Not a real bus station. A stop on the road. It's a shame.
No!! Why do I have to sit in this small, sad, cold, unsightly place before I take a long journey? Do not remind me how bad off my situation really is. I am sure this place been around for some time. Why on earth would they not care about how the waiting room look? This is 2020. How hard can it be to spruce of this tiny square footage? I went to drop my brother off in February and all I could do was look around in disbelief. It made me feel sorry for myself and I wasn't even going to take the bus. If of t they had a restroom, who knows what is crawling in the toilet. If I had not left my phone in my car I would have taken photos. The seats were steel and looked as if they were there before the building. Even the people waiting for the bus looked as if they were going to hell. I mean, not for nothing, taking the bus depending on where you are going is not as quick as any other method of transportation. Try making your initial reaction or impression not feel as though this will be a long trip. I went to grab one of the tour guides and the publication was outdated! This really shows that no one cares. My opinion of the lack of upkeep is due to the neighborhood full of minorities. Meanwhile, the clothing store next door is trying to sell a thin sweatshirt for over $100??! If my brother wasn't so afraid of flying, I would have never seen the inside of this place. Hopefully, inside the bus it is a bit more pleasant.
If your anything like me and big on reviews!!. Please read before u book a bus ride with Greyhound. I'm flying from now on!. This company is in the toilet. I booked a bus ride from new York to Charlotte. Bus driver was extremely rude to the riders for no reason on the ride to Penn station. We get to Penn station and they have us wait for 6 hour layover only to tell us the trips been cancelled and they don't have a driver and the next available schedule is the next day at 930pm. They expected us to hang around Penn station for 11 hours!. On top of that it still wasn't a guaranteed it would be an available driver if we would have waited the 11 hours. This was horrible!. From now on I will just fly and save myself time and money and headache!.
There is no actually station, the office is no longer there but you can buy your physical tickets from the deli across the street, but don't ask them about schedules and buses, just tickets, smh. I recommend buying your tickets online, printing them and waiting by the busstop as scheduled. Our bus came exactly on departure time thank goodness it was only 2 persons otherwise, the bus would be waaaaaay behind schedule. I'll update this post later when journey is complete.
Understand that you are taking greyhounds and some of the places where the bus drops you off isn't the best. A buddy of mine came to visit me and to Gray House it had a lot of problems on the way and a 6-hour trip turned into a teen very quickly. One of the buses overheated and they had to switch buses after only starting to trip 2 hours ago. The bus arrived late and made me late for work. The price for the travel with a little high but I might just be overthinking that and this is why I say but you must understand that you are taking Greyhound it's not going to be the best so keep that in mind. Their departure times aren't bad because they do schedule four different locations and I'm guessing because I lived in an area with dense population the buses came there more often. Based off of my friends experience it just seems like any other discount bus so please beware understand what you're walking into. I'm only trying to be honest we all know this. The police also had a strong scent of urine. maybe there's nothing they can do about it because the station was also in a bad neighborhood but hey that is what it is.
This is the only transit facility at which I've truly worried for my personal safety. As with most Greyhound stations, it is located in a not-so-upscale part of town, which on its own does not concern me. However, it was staffed on both days I went through by the same single attendant who was not especially attentive. On the arrival date, I was picked up after a brief wait, but for my departure, I arrived early as Greyhound recommends... and then the bus was 45 minutes late, so it was a long visit. There were a number of people fighting loudly immediately outside the glass storefront, people coming in begging for money, people inside arguing out loud with themselves, etc. The attendant frequently went to a back room, but the above all happened while he was present. There is a bathroom in a supply closet in the way back of the waiting area, behind numerous poorly stacked shipping containers. Given the steady stream of people off the street using it, I chose to skip it, so can't say what condition it was in. There are no vending machines, but there were benches to sit on I guess I can give it credit for that at least. I've spent a fair amount of time in a number of transit centers in some lousy areas, and while always cautious as a woman frequently traveling alone, this honestly was the only place I've felt truly scared for my safety. Oh, one other note: they do shipping hence the big stack of boxes, but I sure wouldn't use them. While waiting to stow luggage under the bus, I watched the driver and attendant remove the boxes that had been shipped - including watching them toss onto the sidewalk several items clearly marked "fragile."
My first time and last time riding greyhound. Their service is horrible, the employees are not helpful and just plain rude. Our bus was delayed about 5hrs and none of the employees were able to explain as to why. If you are looking for a comfortable ride I recommend to use bus services like Peter Pan or even one of the Chinese bus companies avoid yourself the stress.
The guy that normally work the counter is super nice and friendly I give him 5 stars. There is a guy that is there that sometimes help unload the bus he is "not an employee"...he super, super rude and obnoxious to the customers. Greyhound customer service via phone is horrific, they keep you holding on forever and sometimes you cannot even understand them for the language barrier, wifi almost never work and the seats are very narrow. If I had another choice of transportation, Greyhound would be my last choice.
This is pathetic. I called the Hempstead office over 15 times and all it does is hang up on me over and over. It doesn't even ring. I called corporate and I waited for 40 minutes on hold. Then I was hung up on.
