In September of 2017, the iconic Grosse Pointe Hunt Club became privately owned and renamed Grosse Pointe Equestrian. With the goal of enhancing and expanding the equestrian sport in southeastern Michigan, GPE offers boarding, training, lessons and special programs in the disciplines of both jumping and dressage.
FACILITIES AND BOARDING
GPE currently offers 12x12' stalls, six tack-up and wash stalls, a large outdoor jump arena with sand footing, a large indoor arena with recently installed euro footing, a heated riders' lounge, and daily turnout and blanketing. Horses are fed hay four times daily and grain twice daily. Supplements are supplied by horse owner and given by staff.
GPE has begun to work on many improvements to the already lovely barn and surrounds. All-new fencing and additional new indoor and outdoor arenas are in the works, as well as many other features. As these upward changes move forward, GPE remains open for business and welcomes new boarders, riding students, and horses in training.
DRESSAGE
GPE is privileged to have FEI dressage trainer Jesse Collins recently join its team and introduce dressage to the facility. Jesse hails from the U.P., studied dressage in Germany, trained horses in Texas and Michigan, and has shown very successfully in both the U.S.A. and Europe. He excels in patience with both horse and rider. Each is carefully shown the way toward softness, balance, and unity, via the Classical Method of dressage training and his own exceptional insights. Jesse is accepting horses for dressage training through the Grand Prix level, conducts clinics across the country and will be hosting exhibitions and clinics at GPE on a regular basis.
HUNTER/ JUMPER
GPE will be continuing its emphasis on the hunter/jumper facet of the equestrian sport. Greg Crolick, a nationally recognized trainer and rider from Clarkston, Michigan, visits GPE three times a week to work with his students and horses. Greg offers exceptional training and instruction and has enjoyed tremendous success in the show ring and in bringing along 'green prospects'.
Greg and his wife Jessica also have a deep network of equine professionals. They have successfully bought, sold and leased horses and ponies to a variety of clients. Fall, the end of the summer show season, is the perfect time to look for one's first pony or to step up to a more talented horse!
