Fun vibe but possibly the worst food both my wife or myself had ever tasted. The owner / waiter was actually very nice; so I feel bad leaving this review but the food was so bad that I feel I’m obligated. Here was the order: Caesar Salad: 7/10 by far the best thing we tasted. Heavy on the garlic and heavy on the amount of dressing. Still enjoyed it but wouldn’t go out of my way to have it again. Shrimp Scampi: 1/10 This was the weirdest tasting scampi I’ve ever had. It tasted like a Tikki Masala. Tasted way more Indian than Italian - definitely was a lot of curry which the waiter said was “Italian Seasoning.” I believe the chef may have been trying to hide the poor quality of the shrimp by drowning it in a sauce to mute the flavor. Sausage Di Sicilia: 2/10 Meatballs had been frozen, pasta was over cooked / mushy and the sausage was slivered into small shreds of meat. Sauce again had an Indian taste to it. Carbonara: 2/10 Pasta was over cooked / mushy, way too much sauce couldn’t even see the pasta under all the sauce and way too many peas. The overwhelming flavor was peas; you could try to find a bite without a pea but the pasta itself actually tasted like peas. I think it could be a case of a lazy chef who cooked the peas then put the pasta in the same water or cooked the pasta with the peas. The restaurant has a mostly Italian decor but with hints of the Middle East hookah, music etc.. I get the impression the owner may not be Italian but rather Middle Eastern and he’s created a sort of Italian / Middle Eastern fusion. Whatever it is it doesn’t work. We just moved to the South Metro from Wayzata and thought this might be our go to Italian joint… sadly not the case. Not mad about it though - bill was only $90 and it was a dining experience we will never forget.
Just came back from my first visit for my birthday. Best Lobster Ravioli I have ever had. Bread was amazing, my wife loved the spaghetti, my kids loved the Shrimp Alfredo. Cool little restaurant with a chill atmosphere. Definitely going there for every birthday for now on. Great place
Found this Lil hole in the wall Italian restaurant by accident and it was a god send, just finished a Strongman's Competition in the Cities and I was headed home and famished when I came across this and was craving pasta and I wasn't disappointed. I'll definitely travel the hour and half back for some of the best Italian around. The atmosphere is cozy and family filling and the food is on a whole new level flavor is on a out of this world, is this how authentic Italian supposed to taste? From the shrimp scampi to the main course it was filling and delicious. You definitely can tell it was made fresh and to order. I felt a lil underdressed in my hoodie and gym shorts but staff was gracious and treated us like regulars. Definitely don't hesitate, stop in today and have a hearty meal of some of the best pasta around.
CHEF BOYARDEE did it better... I've had better pasta out of a can! We ordered food to go... we asked the waiter about portion sizes and he told me that a order of spaghetti and meatballs was big enough for two and that every entree was big enough for two people. So I ordered 2 orders with six extra meatballs which were barely the size of golf balls at the cost of $20 for six meatballs... Honestly go to Costco and buy the Frozen meatballs they're 10 times better than the supposed homemade meatballs with canned sauce they serve here! I Ordered two side Caesar salads they were so watered down it's like they didn't even dry the lettuce after they washed it. The best thing by far was the bread which I highly doubt they made themselves! All in all we got home with super subpar food and not enough to feed the whole crew. There was barely enough in each order of spaghetti to feed one person. For the almost $90 it cost for the meal save yourself the disappointment and just go to Olive garden for a 10 times better Italian meal! We will never waste our money here ever again. We get a decent Italian restaurant somewhere near Rosemount soon!
This is the kind of restaurant where the food shows up and you don't even think to take a moment to take a picture of it before eating. The dishes are all that great. Wonderful atmosphere, great menu, cannolis that are absolutely delicious. Get a bottle of wine, some delicious homemade bread with some crazy seasoning in it that will make you smile. Get an entre for everyone there and enjoy you are in for a treat. Yes. The place is still absolutely amazing, inflation has not yet hit the menu yet. Portions are still enough for dinner and lunch the next day. The quality is beyond anything else in the south metro.
I recently went there, and was told that, they have a chef, although I didn't see any evidence of it when the food arrived. To be fair, if you are out in the market to eat as-american-as-possible-but italian-and-cheap, please do visit it. E.g. chef's interpretation of Eggplant Parmesan was a couple of eggplant pieces, entangled with noodles, drowning in thick aorta-chocking cheese. The service and atmosphere is not bad at all, nice cozy mom and pop shop feeling it's becoming a chain I am putting this out for public safety reasons, I saw tons of older people who were eating there and might be adversely affected by it. Safety note: Stick to pasta.. Vegetarian options: They don't have any and the ones they claim they have are not made for human taste buds. Go ahead and try it, if you don't believe it.
We went here earlier this summer. It reminded me of dinning out at restaurants we visited while we were in Italy on our honeymoon. It's a fairly small restaurant in a strip mall and, at the time we visited, they had what seemed like two people working, but that did not impact service at all. Orders were taken promptly, we got our food quickly and everything was delicious. Would highly recommend as a small intimate dining experience. Will definitely be back.
We had an incredible dinner. The sangria is amazing and a definite must have at only $6 a glass. We also shared an appetizer of Italian sausage and peppers in red sauce. It was spicy and full of flavor. The bread and oil you get is huge and so soft. We also ordered the tortellini and a chicken and broccoli with garlic cream sauce. The portion sizes on the pasta were massive. We couldn't finish the pasta and took most of it home. Two glasses of sangria, the appetizer, and two pastas were only $55. Incredible food, large portions for excellent prices. I highly recommend this place.
We came for our 34th Wedding Anniversary. The atmosphere evokes Italy. The food is delicious! Everything we ate was well seasoned. No bland food. The people working were knowledgeable and pleasant. We plan to return! Vegetarian options: As a vegetarian I was happy to find multiple entrees I can try!
Our last two pickup order here have both been wrong. Last time they forgot the dessert. This time the total order was wrong. It appears they gave us someone else’s order. We will probably not try a third time. When I called last time they didn’t offer a refund for the dessert but we could drive back and get it. I didn’t bother calling this time. Wouldn’t recommend using there carry out service.
