The NEW Gulf Breeze Veterinary Hospital has a family friendly atmosphere and our staff is dedicated to meeting all the needs of companion animals.
Our pets are an important part of our lives and we believe providing the absolute finest medical and surgical care will help to ensure a happier and healthier life for everyone.
Gulf Breeze Veterinary Hospital is now under new ownership and management being led by Dr. Matthew Kelcourse and folks will be happy to learn that Rene’ Arthur and Lori Sherman, two familiar and friendly faces at Angel, are still with us as important members of our growing veterinary team. Dr. Kelcourse is also pleased and proud to announce Gulf Breeze Veterinary Hospital has now been completely refitted with a state of the art in-house diagnostic laboratory, digital radiology, modernized surgery suite and a new, fully integrated computer system that allows Gulf Breeze to be eco-friendly and paperless as well as a “smart” facility that links every hospital department and referral labs directly with each client and patient computer record.
Our office hours have also expanded; allowing a wider variety of appointment options that will more easily fit into almost any client’s busy schedule. Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are always welcome. Gulf Breeze Veterinary Hospital is located just one mile north of Wal-Mart at 14500 Tamiami Trail, North Port, FL. It is convenient to enter the frontage road by turning west at North Port Boulevard stop light intersection (near the Church) and then turn south on the access frontage road.
Annual Wellness Exam:
We promote preventative medicine to ensure your pet has a long, healthy life.
Diagnostic Laboratory:
We now have a state of the art in-house diagnostic laboratory that allow us to run everything from, yearly wellness blood tests; fecal and urinary analysis; and routine microscopic cytology to more extensive tests to aid in diagnosing illness when your family pet is feeling under the weather. Also, all surgery patients receive pre-anesthesia blood screening to help us make your pet’s surgical procedure as safe and successful as possible.
Digital Radiology:
Digital radiology allows us to rapidly obtain high-definition x-rays that can be an important diagnostic tool for a variety of patient conditions including lameness; coughing; heart disease; foreign body ingestion; constipation and many other disorders that require more than a physical examination to reach a diagnosis.
Surgery:
We perform everything from routine surgical procedures to orthopedic and spinal surgery. Every patient is fully monitored using a state of the art digital monitor that provides real-time EKG, blood oxygen levels, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature.
Dentistry:
We perform routine dental cleanings, surgery and provide education and products for follow-up care. We will also be adding digital, dental radiology in the coming months.
Anesthesia:
We use a variety of gentle sedatives and isoflurane inhalation anesthesia as well highly effective pain management medications for our patients undergoing any procedure.
Monthly Heartworm, Flea and Tick Prevention: We keep our prices at or below those of 1800petmeds and Foster & Smith. Why? Because we believe in people supporting their local veterinarian and community instead of an oversized corporation with only one goal… high volume sales.
Heartworm Preventative: Heartworm disease is a deadly but easily preventable disease. We recommend year round preventative be given to cats and dogs.
Flea/Tick Control: Fleas and ticks carry a number of life threatening diseases which pose a risk to you and your pet. For this reason, we recommend year-round flea and tick control and carry several products which work well in our environment.
Diet and Nutrition: We carry a full line of Hills prescription diets. Different pets require different diets for optimum health and performance. Our staff will be happy to help determine which diet is right for your pet.
Pet Health Education and Literature:
From this website to the handouts we provide in our clinic, we want to ensure that you receive accurate and up to date information on your pet’s problems as well as tips for prevention of diseases.
Senior Wellness Exam:
We understand that pets in their “golden years” require more attention than most younger family pets. We recommend all seniors receive blood screening to detect those problems undetectable by a physical exam.
Vaccinations:
These are vital for preventing disease in your pet. We understand that a vaccine program should be tailored to your pet’s individual needs based on risk of exposure.

Micro-chipping:
Millions of pets are lost or stolen each year. This is why we strongly recommend all pets be identified with a microchip which is registered with a national database. This greatly increases the number of lost pets reunited with their guardian(s).
