I learned about the hacker lab through Sierra college and had decided to register with the student discount. Pleased to say the program is very good. 24 hour access with a key card alone with pretty much every industrial tool you'd need. Seems disorganised within the building though.
Great for any Sierra college student willing to pay $12.50 a month! open 24/7. Computers always available along with whiteboards and plenty of space.
This is a fantastic maker space. There are a huge variety of tools and machines available. Great classes and training as well. Members are very helpful, it seems like there's always someone around to lend a hand if you are stuck on a project.
Absolutely fascinating place for both artists and technology designers. Beautifully planned and run, it's a candy store for those interested in constructing projects from textiles to metal. Great staff who are incredibly nice and helpful. Josh took us on a tour. He was sweet, knowledgeable and very very helpful. Roger who is in charge of Hacker Lab couldn't be nicer! Top marks!
This used to be a fantastic spot for students. Conveniently located close to Sierra college and 24/7 hour access, I spent most of my time studying here. However it has changed significantly for the worse for students ever since the move. There is much less study space and privacy for students now. After more than 4 months, walls still have not been put it to seperate the industrial area from the front lobby. As a result it is almost impossible to concentrate due to neverending loud sounds. Unfortunately, it seems that this situation for students isn't going to change anytime since I spoke with the upper management. It's a good spot if youre mainly interested in the industrial side of the business. However, as a student, I will not be returning to study here.
Great equipment. Lots of space.
Great community of creative individuals & makerspace tools to learn & use. Community members pay $125 a month for 24/7 accesses & because Sierra college funds most of the tools, Students of Sierra only pay $25 per month for all access!
This place fosters and breeds people who are looking to take advantage of people at any cost to get their business off the ground. I recently had an awful experience as a graphic designer helping out this guy named Adrian. Adrian works out of this location and is building an Education App. After over delivering on mock-ups providing more then double the contract, he has refused to correspond or pay his final payment. In addition, instead of contacting me, he had his buddy Aaron try to extort me over malicious reviews with threats of "Do what I say and ill remove my review" without ANY attempt to resolve the issue in person, by phone or email. ZERO correspondence! He also accused me of stealing content then figured out the mock-up icons had actually come from Big stock where he then had to recant on his position. Disgraceful. These people are malicious, backstabbing and wont pay their bills. DO NOT WORK WITH PEOPLE from hackerlab. From one designer to another, if you plan to head here looking for networking opportunities, think again and STAY AWAY. This place- like the one in Sac- fosters and breeds unethical attitudes!!! Not to mention jealous slander. The sad part is i would have been 100% willing to work out something with Adrian since i wanted to help him with his project. If it had been a mis-communication regarding expectations of icon sources, that is something we could have talked about and come to a solution. Generally with mock-ups, it is industry norm to use licensed icons for design work. Since his work was heavily discounted, that would be expected. But he has refused to talk to me and resolve this. Seems like he just does not want to pay.
Interesting place. Run by Sierra College as a workshop for rent. Computer stuff plus welding, sewing, art, 3d printing and much more. Special rates for Sierra College students.
This is a wonderful community for entrepreneurship, study and innovation. Relaxed, 24 hour access, free coffee, classes, and modern technology for makers et al.
