In 2016, I was having several different medical issues bombarding my system. I worked out daily, ate pretty healthy, and lived a full life of teaching and attending grad school full time. Through the process of figuring out what was wrong with me, the digestive specialist found a polyp in my colon. Having digestive issues for almost 20 years this finding scared me. At that same time, my aunt had just found out that she had colon cancer. This meant the polyp had a lot more significance and became that much more scarier. One of my symptoms at that time was severe constipation. When I drank coconut water, it went away. My specialist recommended that I just continue to drink the coconut water and call it a day. That was not good enough for me. My aunt had cancer, I had a polyp removed and while coconut water was tasty, it was not fixing the problem. I was told to eat more fiber and things would clear up. I ate more fiber but that did not fix things. My aunt pressed me to be diligent with my digestive issues so that I did not end up in her position. I searched for a nutritionist but could not find one to set up an appointment with me right away or they did not call me back. So, I researched nutrition extensively myself. Unfortunately, my aunt took a turn for the worst. she passed away in the fall of 2017. She was going to have surgery but the cancer had spread everywhere and the doctors gave her weeks to live. My family united their efforts of researching to help her heal herself, if at all possible with what little time we had left with her. We all knew the power of the body, the power of the spirit, and the power of the mind. We found food to help ward off cancer. We also found natural herbs to help with the pain that had healing properties with it. As a family, we had one common theme: a holistic approach to healing. We knew that if we had taken the diagnosis more serious in 2016 like we did when she only had weeks left, then we would have fought the cancer with her and won. Her death scared me to the core with my own condition. So, I completely changed my eating altogether intensely for 5 weeks then I saw true lasting results. I did not need to rely on coconut water as my body utilized the nutrients from many sources food I had eaten and balanced itself out. It was not enough to just work out and eat healthy. It took learning the healing properties of food to heal my digestive system.
I wish I could leave my physical health challenge here. Unfortunately events rendered me with physical and mental injuries that I needed to heal. Within 2 weeks, I had lost my aunt and two people had rear ended me. My car was totaled. I suffered with a severe concussion that bordered TBI if you ask me. However, an MRI showed no structural damage. I am grateful for this as my degree is in Psychology and I need my mind to fulfill my life’s work. On top of the concussion, I was left with a bulging disk on my L5 and a 3mm rupture on my disk between my C5 and C6. In my treatments, I went to an amazing neurologist from New York. He looked at all of my MRI’s and instructed me to not accept surgery but look at pain management until I healed naturally. This was my kind of doctor! I went to the pain management clinic he had referred to me and they suggested a shot in my spine. I would stop having pain, the headaches would possibly go away and I could stop taking at least one of my medications. This was so nice to hear as I had been popping pills multiple times a day for months and I was just tired of it. Concerned about becoming addicted to them, every so often I would stop taking them just to be in severe pain afterward. Then I received a call from my cousin who wanted me to meet up with a team from LA who works with professional athletes, A-list actors and actresses, rehab clinics, and children in mental health clinics. He explained that there was technology here in the states created in Germany that would help alleviate my pain through a processes called “Vascular Therapy”, and even better, help me heal my injuries faster!!!! I was excited to hear about this technology. Before I met with the team, I researched their technology in peer review journals. I wanted to make sure I was going to consider something that was supported by research. I was delighted to read experiment after experiment of positive outcomes using Vascular Therapy to heal an array of illness, diseases, and most importantly for me at that time: my injuries. The idea to help heal myself quicker was exciting; however, when I thought about helping other people heal themselves through a healthy lifestyle combined with Vascular therapy I had to get out into my community and do it!
