I’ve been going here for years and the Dr has always been rude. They don’t inform you on what your insurance will cover. I’ve never really had a problem with the routine cleaning. I was told I needed a mouth guard but they never gave me one even though they said they would. But I had to get a crown put in. The doctor does not do anything to calm you during procedures. No gas. Just a small dose of lorazepam that did absolutely nothing. I have always had issues with the dentist, I had a traumatic experience as a child with brushing my teeth so brushing them, the dentist, and anything to do with teeth has been an issue with me. I had never had a crown before and my anxiety was through the roof. I hummed the entire time to stop myself from screaming. I gripped the arm chair so hard I left indents on it. My body was so tense during it I was sore all over for days later. I had horrible diarrhea the morning of the procedure. After it was over, I never went back and haven’t been to a dentist since. It’s been 4 years. I’ve dealt with this with my therapist so I can try to go back to a dentist. I’m having an even tougher time brushing. I’m having nightmares. She retraumatized me and it’s been a very difficult experience. I am considering the idea of suing because of how bad it’s gotten. I have never felt so traumatized by a doctor and I have been dealing with many doctors my entire life. Do not go to the woman, she will only hurt you.
Dr. Samuels is a great dentist. She goes above and beyond. Her staff are all very professional, efficient, and so kind. Great environment.
Let me share my experience with you really quick. I came to the clinic to get a dental crown. My treatment plan started with fixing everything around but crown! At some point I had no choice other than insisting on start working on crown services! What the hell?! Before any of my procedures I verified the price with front desk I'm broke, I need to manage any penny I spend. I've been informed that with insurance money my oop will be about $600-700 which is fine with me. At the day of crown replacement in a chair I learned that after the insurance ill need to pay about 2 grand oop! I'm sorry, what?! I stopped immediately the session before any procedure had started. I'm not ready to pay 2 grand after the insurance. The crown itself costs about that money without coverage. Dr said that for abutment that she ordered i need to pay $500 rn. I refused to do so and I left the item in the office at the moment I walked in the box with the product was already opened!. Later the week i received the bill $250 for UNSPECIFIED TREATMENT I have copies. After talking with clinic over the phone I was informed its for impression coping. Doctor stated that I need to come to the office, pay $250, pick up the product and I can do with it whatever I want. After the debate we had, later another week I received the same bill with no explanations whatsoever I have copies. Later I received the call from the clinic about arranging my payment plan!!! I had another discussion with the doctor where she informed me if I won't pay the bill off she will ask her manager to report me to the collection agency. I had no other choice but to file a small court claim against her I have paperwork in hands so she leaves me alone! I will not pay for the service I ve never received! Guess what. After she realized i being serious she emailed back to me with "... I will agree to remove the $250.00 charge from your account as long as you agree to withdraw your civil suit AND promise not to contact me in the future..." end of the quote. Its first time in my life I ve experienced something like that! I'm disappointed that I needed to seek for a help from clinic's threats in court! Anyway. Thats the experience I had I have file number if you need as a proof. Update after doctor's reply. Ma'am, please stop making up stories. you was worried about cavities and possible root canals ON THE OPPOSITE SITE OF IMPLANT. my implant is on the left side and you treated right side cavities. Please do not make it worse than it is. YOU failed to understand that i needed a new crown coz i just removed braces and orthodontist is waiting for this crown to be replaced so i can have correct shape retainers for the night time! i made it clear first thing i stepped in the office and you helped me to remove glue from braces. you just needed to use up all my money on the insurance and then charge me out of pocket additional 2 grand for unnecessary implant treatments plus crown. i get it. After me consulting with my regular dentist about your moves he stated you just dont know what were you doing! and btw i have a crown finally for $600 as i was promised by the front desk lady not like in your clinic out of blue additional 1.5 grand at the time of the appointment. Good luck with charging your clients with unnecessary treatments and threatening them with collections.
So she tells me I have a cavity, and then told me she would see me in 6 months ? um… I thought I had a cavity? I mentioned I needed my wisdom teeth out before I go to college which is soon and she gave me 0 info on that. Thanks !! this was all with Dr samuels I already had a bad experience getting my first cavity filled I thought i was just being dramatic but now this strange encounter… will not be returning.
I am pretty new to the area and this was recommended by a friend when I had a dental emergency. The team here was so amazing. They saw me ASAP, I was clearly stressed with everything going on and Dr. Samuels was incredibly informative during the appointment and very composed. She helped me stay calm as well. I've had follow up appointments since and they've all been the same level of high quality. I had an emergency appointment during the shut down and she took all of the necessary precautions, and was well versed on new recommendations from the ADA. I cannot recommend them enough.
We've been going to Hamilton House Dentistry ever since we've relocated to Illinois in 2019. Dr. Samuels is the best. Very sweet and attentive, answers all questions and is willing to work with you no matter the issue. I've never felt rushed or devalued as a patient. My children are also patients here and love it! They always get excited to get checkups every 6 months
Had my teeth cleaned today by Darien and what an experience!!! I was very overdue 6yrs to be honest and let me tell you how pleasant my visit was. Gentle, informative, and overall kind. She turned on the massage chair and just got to cleaning. She never passed judgement & simply explained the importance of coming every 6 months. Great job Hamilton House!!! See you in 6 months.
Dr. Samuels genuinely cares about her patients. Sure all doctors may perform an exam, look at your X-rays, and boom there’s your treatment plan but with Dr. Samuels you get explanation and clarity. The office is also unique and nothing like a typical dental office. You get an “at home” feeling even with all the pandemic protocols. Great small private practice.
Dr Samuel's is wonderful! Very caring and sensitive to your treatment. She takes the time to discuss what is important to you and your needs. I can't say enough good things about her!
