My Dad is 95 years old and cannot walk... he was admitted into Hamilton Rehab and stayed for 100 days...... I love this place, the nurses, nurses aides and whole staff are amazing. They took such great care of my Dad.... he had rehab on a daily basis to get him walking again and when the 100 days were over he came home and was able to walk again.I give this place 5 stars. They were wonderful and I highly recommend Hamilton.
With an unfortunate fall, my 94yr old mom needed surgery then rehabilitation. Diligently researching all and any that would suit my moms needs with dimentia and hip surgery . Hamilton Park is above and beyond my expectations. From admin to nurses therapists CNAs and down to cleaning people have treated my mom with the love and respect she so rightly deserves. The employees of this establishment including occupational therapists, physical therapists the concierge who never stops giving of herself , directors of activities and entertainment. I wouldn’t have wanted my mom anywhere else. These people ALL love their jobs and it most definitely shows…With gratitude I write this
The entire staff at Hamilton Park is courteous and helpful. They’re always asking how they can improve and help the patients. The facility is clean and well lit. They always assist my 90 year old father and do their best to accommodate him. I am grateful for what they do.
I’ve given myself some time to think before writing this review. I believe that Hamilton Park has no business taking in tracheostomy and/or peg tube feeding patients. My father, who needs both tracheostomy care and peg tube feeding, was a resident at Hamilton Park for exactly one week before he had to be readmitted to the hospital emergency room for fever, dehydration, UTI and viral infection. The peg tube feeding equipment used that Hamilton Park is antiquated. The machine only provides feeding without the necessary water flushing which helps both in preventing the peg tube from clogging and provides necessary patient water/hydration intake. At Hamilton Park, they depend on the nursing and CNA staff to manually use a large plastic syringe to push the water into his peg according to a schedule, which was indicated in his records 200ml every 6 hours. My sister and I took turns being at Hamilton Park during that week he was there, and I stayed in my father’s room for 4 straight days for 6-8 hours each day, and other than seeing him get the water flush during his daily medication, I never saw another time that his peg was flushed. When I took it up with the charge nurse, I was told that it’s in his file to get flushed and the nurses will get to it. One of the kinder nurses even tried to teach my sister how to use the syringe to flush him, telling her that it would make a world of difference if his peg was flushed more frequently. Regarding his tracheostomy care, we noticed that they would use and reuse the same suction catheter even though they are meant to be one time use. They would suction his phlegm and secretions and put the tubes back into a bag hanging by the wall. They tried to pass it off as a closed circuit suctioning when clearly it was not, and after my sister pointed out that what they were doing was unsanitary and wrong, they got the director of respiratory therapy to come and properly set up the closed circuit suctioning. The CNA staff at Hamilton Park are given bare minimal supplies to do their job, their supply carts that are stationed in the hallways are barely stocked with the necessary bedding, soaps or other supplies. On one of the days, Saturday, my father was laying with his heavily soiled diaper for over 4 hours and I went to the charge nurse on duty that day, Julia, multiple times to ask when he would be cleaned.. turns out, they were short of staff, and he was overlooked. When one of the CNA’s finally came around, she told me that she did not have a spare gown or bed sheet for my father. And when I pointed out to her how my father was soiled through to his gown and he needed a change of gown and bed linen, it took her another 10 minutes walking around the floor to find them. I hate to imagine how long they would have neglected him if I wasn’t there. It took 5 days before my father got a supply of 5 sponge tipped mouth swabs for oral hygiene, which were not individually wrapped, but were shoved in the five fingers of a glove to keep sanitary. Before that, we used a toothbrush that we brought in ourselves, and after day 3 without mouth swabs which are gentler than a toothbrush, I went online to order a box of 100 mouth swabs to supply the CNAs, but I never got a chance to give it to them because my father was already transferred back to the hospital by day 7. That was how fast the neglect and negligence at Hamilton Park happened, which lead to his dehydration, fever and UTI.
My name is India Kaplan. I am a retired registered nurse. My brother is Philip Nelson who has been here for about a month. He is making great progress with his physical therapy and his overall treatment for a very serious medical condition. I cannot tell you how pleased I am with this facility. The people are very approachable and kind. It is a wonderful environment. Special thanks to nursing, PT , OT and Denice, Durnin the Concierge who has helped transition him so well.
I am the private companion of Maureen Anderson at Hamilton Park for 16 months on behalf of my self and the Anderson Family. We wish to thank the Administrator, the Concierge for going above and beyond in assisting with all our needs and concerns. Also thanks to for wonderful nurses and CNA on the 3rd floor. 345 A.
Physical and occupational therapists that worked me were excellent. Some of the staff was very companionate and professional. There are a few extremly rude, disrespectful and downright unprofessional aids. Another problem is that everyone of the staff doesn't wear any identification that you can easily read to identify who is servicing you. Everyone is wearing a face mask and cap.. all you see are a pair of eyes. Every patient has a right to know who is servicing you. I haven't slept in almost 2 months because of several rude and inconsiderate aides on the late shift. Patients have rights too!
My Dad has been at Hamilton Park Nursing Home for 2+ years. The CNA's have always been there when I needed assistance with my Dad. The Nursing staff are always knowledgeable when I need clarification on his care. The Conceilege have always assisted me with all of my Dad's needs.
My mother was admitted into Hamilton Park nursing home three weeks ago. I am very satisfied with the care and attention she has received from the entire staff on the third floor, and also from physical therapy!
This was a terrible experience for both my mother and uncle. If you do not have an aide there or a family member constantly checking up on your loved one, expect nothing. Minimal care, they didn’t even answer the phones during Covid, the admins do nothing and it’s a shame it’s not looked into because it’s a nice building. The rehab is better if you can advocate for yourself but the nursing home area was a disaster for my family members. Local politicians should make this problem a priority.
