Hampton Arts Cinema

About

A small twin screen movie theater that dates back to the 1920's. Quaint and old fashioned would be the best way to describe our little home town theater.

Honestly I’m always hoping that they will do a full renovation here.. My family and I have been watching films here for 40+ years.. The building has changed hands a few times but it’s never received the love it needs.. It’s a very old building and it shows in the decor, air quality and definitely in the restrooms!! Depending on what’s showing, the convenience of having a theatre right in WHB can be worth it.. But with Hampton Bays right down the road and Island 16 30 minutes away, there are other option..
The night we went it was raining outside. The theatre had a huge leak in the ceiling and placed a bucket by the screen to catch the water. It dripped so loud that it actually drowned out dialog in the film. During the film it actually started to spill out of the pail and on to the floor. Management didn't tell customers this would be an issue before they sold us the tickets. And they were not present throughout the film or in the lobby while guests were on their way out. Bad experience.
Great small-town theater. They are cash only so be prepared! Show times and movie selections are very limited so call first. They offer $5 movies on Tuesdays, too. So that's pretty cool!
Great movie theater. Saw the Quentin Tarantino.movie,. I didn't find it entertaining as a period piece, with many references, somewhat quirky but boring.and disappointing. Violent ending as expected didn't redeem the movie as I think the producers hoped. There I said it.
I really like Hampton Arts Twin, it's a cute old theater and you can't beat the prices. I wish I could recommend them, but my most recent experience there was so awful that I and my family will not be going back. I wanted to write this in a private e-mail to them, but cannot find one, so hopefully they will read this and change their practice. My complaint is that at the 8pm showing of The Great Gatsby on Saturday, May 11, the volume was excessively loud. When I say excessive, I mean that my ears hurt, it set my pulse racing, and I had ringing ears like after a rock concert. And I was wearing earplugs! I hope they will look into this problem.
Terrible experience. We our 3 kids to see Mary Poppins on a rainy day. the place is literally a tear down and is a step into the 1970's, and its dirty with minimal staff. They only take cash, and they serve food and drinks from containers that bear other shuttered theaters names. 5 minutes into our movie, the projector broke and they told everyone that they would not be able to re-start the movie because it was cancelled. That lead to a 20m long line to get a "credit" because the cashier either couldnt make change or the owners are too cheap to offer a cash refund. I walked off the line due to 3 screaming kids wasting over $50 bucks in that dump. I will also say that I am a local and while it pains me to write this, the owners should be ashamed to operate a business so unprofessionally.
Nice old fashioned theater - a bit dated but very quaint in its own way. Good for a rainy day in the summer. Not much parking so arrive early
A nice little Theater with great ticket pricing and great staff. If a movie I want to see is playing here, it's definitely my first choice.
Good sound and projection. Bathrooms up flight of stairs. Needs updating but tolerable. No other movie theatres in area.
Small screen local movie theater. Reasonably priced tickets. Limited to two screens. Good choice when staying local.
